i still have my shitty car audio system - i'll tell it right now, i know jack shit about cars.
can anyone reccomend a full system i should buy? i want some good speakers and a nice sub (or 2), i want to replace my shitty stock speakers.

i have a '91 Saab 900 SE. It's a pretty bad car, but my parents gave it to me for free, so why am i complaining.
any suggestions? for the whole system i'd like to stay under $400...

K, well I would say the most reasonable speakers to buy for your car that sound really good are Infinity Reference.... http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_6628_I...fp+-PLATE-.html I think your car will have that size... I've installed 4 sets of references and we love em. You can just buy one set, as your on a budget, and put them in the rear and fade the music to the back and it will sound fine

top Amp and sub brands in order in my opinion
Alpine, JL audio, MTX, Rockford, Kicker...

If you can afford it stay with one of those, if not try infinity, Pioneeer, JBL, kenwood.... don't buy something from a shit brand...it'll last a month if your lucky

Sonic Electronix is a decent site if you wanna order online, cheapest place I've ever seen... Two friends and myself have ordered systems from them and all of them are still goin strong, theirs are both competetion class.

those are nice and cheap. how many you think i should pick up? also, when i said i know jack about cars, i wasnt even flattering myself. i seriously know nothing about cars. so, any amp and sub suggestions too? =D.
would a local body shop/customs shop be able to pull this job off for me if i supply the hardware?

You'll get charged out the ass for any install work heads up...its fuckin ridiculous how car audio shops charge...if you can do it yourself its pretty easy in most cars, just switch out the speakers... I'm not completely sure on what size all of your speakers are there should be a guide on there where you enter your car info and it tells you speaker sizes that'll fit.

for subs and amp, it depends on how much you have to spend....because you will need a box and a wiring kit on top of that..

Pioneer DEH-P7800MP stereo head unit in with 4 Alpine SPS-17C2 6 1/2" speakers in the doors. Then I am going to put a Kicker 12" Solo-Baric L7 in a ported box with a Kicker ZX10001 Class D Monochannel amplifier. The sub and amp are on the budget list for when I get money!

Oh, by the way. I have a 2001 Dodge Dakota Club Cab (not the 4 door, the 2 door with a small bench backseat) SOOO, Kicker audio sub and amp will be rediculous! YAY!

L7 is a no-no!

Square sub with round voice-coil = burnt out
one of my friends had a pair and they are burnin up already after a few months, and the local shop says he sees a lot of them go out that way....

I got to say, go Alpine type X for that money
