HookahCulture
So I guess the regular AF apple is close to the GS Bahraini. That Bahraini was definitely apple cinnamon pastry. I remember Mo searching for the perfect apple, and there was a brand that he thought he had was perfect but couldn't find it again... HAS IT BEEN FOUND? Also, anyone hear anything about the Eskandrani? It may not be available anymore. Any retailers dumping their stock? Let me know! HAHA I think I'm the only one here who likes Eskandrani a lot. Yeah I was thinking about Mo last week too! So glad he and his family are OK.
MR Bubble
I remember Mo searching for the perfect cherry, and found it with AL Amir. In fact he sent me some in the samples and I may try it tonight, if I'm not dwunk. Nahhh, I don't do that! MR Bubble
MR Bubble
As promised earlier: Al Amir cherry. The appearance is cut a little looser than other Amirs, but no big tree trunks. Red, red, red! As usual this is so red and wet it looks like someone ran a mouse through a processor and dumped it in the bag. Mo? Has the same mystery grit feeling on my hands, and tastes wonderful when I lick it off my fingers. Smoking it is pleasant enough. As usual with Al Amir, it takes a few puffs to get going, then you get a weird taste in your mouth for about two more drags, then it settles down with its business. The taste is not quite as sweet as I had hoped for. Nothing "cartoonish" about the taste. It is a cherry taste, but not as pronounced as I was expecting it to be. This is my 4th different brand of cherry, and so far my second favorite. I really don't know how much more I can say about it or describe it. I would describe it as a medium sweet. Not dark, but not bright. So I guess I will compare it with other brands. Al Waha is not very sweet for me and it has this weird carboard tone to it. MRS Bubble hates it. Romman has less of the carboard taste and MRS Bubble hates it less. Al Amir (one we're on now) has no cardboard taste, is sweeter and has more accurate rendition of a cherry. But MRS Bubble, like me, thinks it is missing a certain quality Nakhla cherry has: first, more pronounced cherry taste, and second, when you (or I do anyway) have a mouthful of cerries, or cherry pie and swallow it, it gives me a gentle, stinging sensation it the throat. I guess it comes from a citric acid in them. Believe it or not, but some cherries are extremely high in vitamin-C. But anyway, who gives a rip, right? The al amir just misses something here for us. One of the few things we both agree on. Flavor: . Very good. Easily loveable by a lot of people for a smooth, medium sweet smoke. THe cherry that can be tasted in it is pretty accurate. However, not a slap-yo-mamma in the face cherry. Nakhla isn't even that, but I am more reminded of cherries with it than I am with this. But nothing nagative. Very enjoyable to smoke. Smoke density: Yes. it is it! A wonderful, white (not as silky as AF) thick smoke. Buzz-factor: It's there, but nothing to be feared. Nose-hitability: I was able to slip one it when the MRS wasn't watching and found it to be not worth the danger of being caught. Well: It's good. Nice flavor that anyone would enjoy smoking. I enjoyed it. Actually, I'm getting a little soured in the stomach like a lot of cherries do to me, but that is as accuarate as it gets. I think I'd rather have the throat-bite than a soured stomach. However, this is what I'm doing: I have so much respect and gratitude for Mo, that I will consider it my fault that I didn't get the expected flavor. Different brands sometimes call for different techniques, and I will try this again later and do an "edit" to this review to give you my results. I will alter my coal management a little. I'm not expecting the cherry thoat-bite, because that isn't madatory. However, I think the "cherry" part of the taste can be a little more pronounced. But, for now I will give this one a whopping "" That means about "7.5" for ME. Remember we are all different. I think many of you would enjoy it if you like cherries. MR Bubble
Hey uselessdreamer1, there is a lot of trading going on around here. These samples I'm trying are ones that King Mo was nice enough to send me to try. He's trying to ween me off of the Nakhla. There are a couple samples that just may do that. However, he'd have an easier time milking a badger. Only joking, Mo. Some of these are down right yummy! Unfortunately uselessdreamer1, I only have enough for a couple bowls and it's been taking just that to do a review on these. try this link on the forum here: http://hookahforum.com/forum/forum_posts.a...asp?TID=1020&PN =2 there has been alot of trading with this one from what I understand. MR Bubble
Hey I'm back at the AL Amir cherry. I've been having technical difficulties with the Bright Star coals. A whole piece gets things too hot, resulting in a slight loss of flavor and being on the threashold of burning. 3 one-quarter pieces are a bit too cool, resulting in a loss of potency. So, I guess I'll have to result back to 3 one-quarter pieces and use my shroud (foil chimney) around my bowl to bring the heat up with those 3 pieces. Or something like that. Anyway, I pumped up the heat with a whole piece of coal this time (4- one-quarte pieces) and it seems t obe handling the heat better than most brands. The flavor evolved toward a more "brighter" sweet, meaning I got a shade more sour in the taste, resulting in a more accurate "fresh" cherry taste. However, due to more heat, the bowl is only lasting half as long as before. The buzz-factor increased slightly as well, as well as the Nose-hitability. It gave me a 3 carpet tack boost. MRS Bubble wants some more Nakhla Cherry and I'm looking for the jar of cherry and I will smoke it and review it for you and let you know which one I like the best. Of course I will keep one bowl of this Al Amir saved for the compairison. Cmon' don't look at me like that! I think the Al Amir Cherry is very, very good, and I would not hesitate suggesting it to anyone looking for a good cherry. So, Al Amir gets an 8 now. It may increase once I smoke other brands again. It was incredibly rich in flavour, which I imagine was down to the size of the shisha and the huge head involved. really was rich in taste and smoking experience. @ Mr Bubble, good stuff, keep it up. Always interesting to hear different views, as different people look for different things in their smokes. For example, if you notice the flavours that I love, which are Apple fakher and cherry fakher, and to a certain extent now strawberry fakher, they are incredibly smooth smokes with a luxury feel to them. Some people look for other things such as aspects of the flavour, or perhaps a 'buzz' of some sorts.aIncidetally back at HC, I seem to have developed a greater taste for Eskandarani (golden), so I'm liking it alot more now. I guess back when I first tried it, I didn't really have the taste for it, but for me I seem to have acquired a liking for it. Very smooth and a nice flavour too paragraph above is a little too long, perhaps should have split it into 2-3 but to be honest, not bothered to edit it now
John Deere
I dont know if this was answered, but...the bnn import/export people told me a new shipment of esk apple would be here in like 3 weeks. I'm sure they would know, they are the sister company and only importer of al fakher after all.
MR Bubble
Real quick guys. I smoked a bowl of the Fakher Strawberry King Mo sent me and I must say "wow." That was mighty tasty. MRS Bubble said "not bad," and in people language, that means she liked it. She just doesn't get into the hookah much any more, except for Nakhla cherry. But anyway, I thought it was a yummy smoke. The sauce smelled like strawberry syrup found in I-Hops, but licking my fingers, it tasted exactly like strawberry topping. HOMEMADE topping, that is. I was so impressed with the smoke, I'm going to review it tomorrow while smoking another bowl. It isn't the perfect strawberry, but so far I think it's the best I've had to date. See ya tomorrow. MR Bubble
Alright, I'm back again with this AF Strawberry. Really good stuff here. I'm using three 1/4 pieces with my foil heat shroud on and the temp is a bit too hot, but better than the full disc. Nothing has really changed since my review last night. Well, I'm tasting a little more of this (cream) taste that Mo has been talking about. It is elusive, but it is there. One thing about strawberry shishas: they all seem to have a "dirty" taste to them. Nakhla and Waha are the worst probably. But this AF is a lot less, but still has a slight dirt taste. OMG! I just took a nose-hit. My brain is pushed into the back of my head now! Way cool! To get the maximum "cream" taste, I find it helpful after the smoke is blown out, to smack my lips. I really get a sweet creamy taste. So, here we go: Flavor: Sweet Virginia! This is really good for a strawberry. My first hookah smoke was strawberry. Nakhla to be exact. I wish you all could have been there sharing it with me. I have never been able to get it the same. However this is as close as I've gotten to that first enjoyment. You need to try this one. Smoke density: Wonderful, thick cumulonimbus clouds of smoke. Silky smoke to be exact. Looks like I'm watching the Weather Channel. Buzz Factor: Dude! This is a sloppy Nakhla-type buzz. Usually AF is very "tight" and controlled relaxation, but this is just NQR for AF (Not Quite Right). Nose-Hitability: When the smoke session is at it's peak, it feels like "Lobotomy In a Can." Final Arguments: What more can I say? The strawberry flavor is there. It is one of the more realistic strawberries out there. The only thing not realistic is the creammy background, but it does compliment it just right. Not a complicated distraction. Very good. If you want a yummy strawberry, get some of this one. MR Bubble
Greetings, Tonight I'm on my last "Mo Sample." I saved this one for last because I had high hopes for it: Moj El Bahr double apple. "Had" is the key word here. I don't know. I just thought with a name like that it would be good. But, maybe it's the prospect of smoking a brand not heard of much. The pack was really mushy and the tobacco was pretty wet, but the consistence of the sauce was like heavy gear oil. pretty thick stuff. But it looked pretty, all dark red and stuff. The taste is not up to speed. There is very little taste at all. Could this be another sample I need to smoke again tomorrow night? We'll see. I don't think it will help much as I can just tell with this. It started out mildly sweet like Nakhla xx apple with a serious problem. There is very little apple I'm getting and it is just a generic apple flavor, with little distinction. Liccorice? some, but not enough to be impressed with. Just too mild to be a double apple. In fact, I just added some more heat to see what happens. It seems to have woke it up a bit, but still something's NQR with this. I'm getting a little "bright" sweetness and more pronounced liccorice. It is slightly on the verge of burning, but no burned taste, so it does handle high heat well. In fact, I've determined that this massel requires alot of heat. Once there, the typical xxapple qualities will start to come out. But unfortunately, nothing special at all. The apple is slightly sweet. Flavor: Mildly pleasant. (Hey, I need to find some positive in all things) However, this is the weakest xxapple I've ever had. Smoke density: That's one good thing going for it. Several brands/flavors have the same, if not more. Buzz Factor: Never happened until I added extra heat. Then it set in. Very relaxing. Neither tight nor sloppy. It is what it is. Wait... Ah, a drool string on my chest! Nose-hitability: Yep, just as I suspected: It sux. Closing time: Smoke density is really good. Other than that, a turd in a punch bowl. Rating: Ah, what comes after 3? MR Bubble
MR Bubble
So, there you have it gang. Tomorrow night, I will go through the sample Mo sent, pick out my favorite, and while I'm smoking it, I will do a closing post on the overall rating for these. mushrat
I tell you. Between his reviews and the MIA Zoojonny i have my reason for writing the BRIEF reviews. MR Bubble
Okay gang, I'll try to make this quick as possible, due to a hairy storm coming in that will probably kill our power. I want to say, once again, Thank You to King Mo for being gracious enough to send these wonderful samples. C'mon, give it up for the Mo-Man!! I have experienced some wonderful flavors the past couple weeks with these samples. I never was much for most of the "premiums" because they didn't satisfy me, but there are a couple in the sample pack that did just that. I now have a couple new flavors to order regularly. Here is a run-down of the samples I reviewed in the order in which I like them. "1" being the best for me and "7" being the worst for me. Notice the term: "For Me." That should tell you something. 1. Romman Double Apple. Awsome apple smoke with only a touch of quality liccorice flavor and a healthy dose of a spicy cinnamon-ish flavor. What a twist on the double apple theme! 2. Fakher Apple. Wonder flavor of a sweet apple AND the tart apple peel. Sprinkle a tiny bit of real powdered cinnamon on it and you have a great apple-pie smoke! 3. Fakher Grape. Very realistic concord-ish grape flavor. Not much of a cartoon exageration here. Could use a touch of the cartoon thing. I am torn between this and Al Amir grape. Two different aminals, but both loveable to me. 4. Fakher Strawberry. The better of the strawberrie (so far) with a touch of cream. Tastes alot like homemade strawberries and cream topping for your shortcake. Wow! 5. Al Amir Cherry. A mildly sweet smoke with a some-what realistic cherry taste. Not my cherry of choice. I prefere the cheaper, loser brand "X." Am I allowed to say the "N-Word on this post?" 6. Quema Grape. Ironic that this is down this far on the list, but not too appealing with cometition from these other flavors. But a really good, smooth smoke for those who want to smoke and not drink juice. It may be number 6, but I would probably buy some in the future when I get bored with things. 7. Moj El Bahr Double apple. Do I need to talk about this? If I get bored enough, I'd rather run wind sprints across both lanes of the Autobahn instead of deal with this one again. But that's just me. It really isn't too bad, but not worth ordering. There you have it. I did this pretty fast, so please excuse any errors. The storm is moving in. Be good and take care. Thanks again Mo! Cheers, MR Bubble
