Ehagen8008
me and my roommate wanted to smoke last night and tonight...we dont have a car on campus and there is absolutely nothing close and i left my foil at a buddys house....last night we got desperate and tried straight up lighting the shisha with a lighter...bad idea...and then we tried putting a coal directly on the tobacco...better idea...but still not good by any means...are there any household type items that can be used instead of foil perhaps?? Akkbar
if you have an old stainless steel cheese grater, you could cut one of the sides to fit your bowl with tin snips.

anathema
if you have two sets of tongs, you could place the tongs on top of the bowl then the coals right on the tongs.

Hobocans
When I travel I pack either the 3 Kings coals or the Jap coals, just in case. They are covered in a foil that will work as a screen as long as you tear it right. 3 Kings works better for some reason, I can usually tear the packaging right, where as the Jap coals are dicey. If done right the 3 kings 33mm will do about two bowls of foil. The other alternative, is ordering food. You can usually ask them to include foil no matter what you order (italian places are the best). They have it and they don't care as long as you are getting something and tipping well. There are also metal screens you can buy. They get messed up easily, maybe after a dozen or more bowls, but its a nice thing to have in the case, in case you need them.

ghostofdavid
Don't use metal that you don't know isn't safe. You don't want to end up stupider over smoking shisha.

I only threw it out cuz i took it camping and left it outside and it rusted. never wash those screens. when your bowl is done, i find the tobacco falls right off the screen. chinamon
ive never run out of foil.in my stanley toolbox that i use for all my hookah gear i always carry the following: about a dozen mouth tips, pack of matches, lighter, two or three rolls of 3kings, four tubs of shisha, roll of alcan aluminum foil, regular hose and al fakher healthy hose. very soon i will also be including a box of easy-lite coals.this tool box goes wherever my hookah goes. they do not separate. i guess the tool box is stalking the hookah. Sonthert
Just find out where you can get foil, on campus, like, the juice bar at UCSD used to wrap the bread they sold in foil...I could go in there and ask them. Good ninja hookah smokers are always watching for useful things that they may need. Whenever you see foil, make a mental note of where you saw it. Find out if they can give you a little...Aluminum cans work, metal window screen. The top of the can you opened with a can opener...punch holes in it. Its a big misconception that the seal has to be tight between the foil and the tobacco. Edited August 25, 2007 by Sonthert
