d_ice
now i'm really frustrated... for some reason when i first started smoking i would get it perfect and it would taste so good, but now days it's starting to taste like crap... rockmelon tastes beautiful but cherry and strawberry taste like crap i tried experimenting yesterday with no luck (although i was using some tobacco from the previous week but i did put some honey on it)... anyways i tried adding alot of tobacco to the bowl... no use... i tried taking some out and having a lil bit... no use... i tried using big holes in the foil... no use... small holes... no use... i tried milk and there was barely any smoke... the coal was SUPER hot like the ashtray was sooooo hot... but it's the same kind of coal that i used to use back in the day when it tasted nice... i also use to use the round quick light coal and it still didn't taste as good... like i can just taste smoke rather than flavor u know...so wat's the best way to setup your hookah? racemyghost
sounds to me like your sick of the flavors you have.Try getting new flavors or pick yourself up a phunnel bowl.
d_ice
no there's nothing wrong with the flavors... like i can taste smoke rather than the flavor u know... it tastes pretty blunt... i was thinkin if people can just tell me about how they set it up so i can see where i've gone wrong and fix it
Calcartman
It sounds to me like you're burning your shisha pretty badly. You need to take off a bit of heat, especially with bigger holes. And clean your hookah too, for good measure.

d_ice
so will bigger holes burn it more or less???i clean it the whole time like after every 4-5 smoking sessions (i cleaned it just before i was 'experimenting' with setups the other day)the brand of tobacco... i'm not really sure... i can't remember... i buy it locally from the shops so i don't know if you'll be familiar with it but it's the same brand that i use to use when it worked wellthe coals... again i'm not really sure of the brand... but they were SUPER hot... i also used quick light coal (little hockey puck shaped coals) and they're a little less harsh than the others but same thing with the flavorthe bowl... it's just a normal sized bowl... kinda looks like this one... EDIT: i found the only pic i have of my hookah and you can see the bowl so yea u got ur size reference... oh and i'm using two of the quick light coals in the pic[attachment=547:ARG31A.JPG] Edited August 25, 2007 by d_ice

racemyghost
i make sure everything is clean and dry.if using that bowl pictured above, i use that hole configuration.Packing the bowl, i take tobacco out of the tub, break it loose on the table and sprinkle it into the bowl all the way to rim, making sure it does not stick out.wrap the foil tightly and make my holes. then i flip the bowl and blow through it to open up air way.i fill up my base with ice and water. just enough water for the stem to be submerged about 1".get my charcoal ready on the stove. make sure there are no black spots. ash them and place on the bowl like this /_\hope that helps. **** make sure everything is airtight. Johnny_D
In your first post you made mention that you put some honey on it....What type of honey? Generally to moisten tobacco up I would suggest a mix of honey and glycarin [Found in the home-cooking section of any decent supermarket] You want to put this mix [I use about 20ml of Glycarin to 8ml of honey in 250g of tobacco] and ensure you mix it like crazy, then let it stand for a day or so.Again, try to let us know what type of tobacco your using. We have a lot of Australian members and i'm sure they can help!JD

ghostofdavid
If you are using two quicklights, try only using one. Clean and scrub that hookah like it owes you money!
