I just cleaned my hookah a little while ago with vinegar for the first time, as suggested by many people on hookah-forum. WoW! This stuff is amazing! My hookah is so clean and odorless . Woohoo!

Yup. Also, lemon juice and vodka work well.

Vodka - too expensive, and I'd probably puke everywhere from smelling it
Lemon juice - just didn't seem to do the job

Yes, good vodka is way too expensive, but cheap vodka is like $6.95 for a handle.

i use lemon juice for the ususal cleaning, vodka when i want to get fancy.

i dont like the whole idea of vineger going down my stem...something about the smell. lol

Nothing replaces a brush and water...gunk still builds up. I tried making a hookah cleaning fluid using conc. acetic acid (10-20%)(vinegar is 5% acetic acid) and it still wouldn't take the gunky stuff out.

so whatd you do? just take some vinegar and then give it a quick wash through and then use water to clean it out?

i think you wash it with diluted vinegar. but smelling that vinegar would make me throw up.

Yep, that's pretty much how it goes. Smell whatever you washed after you rinse it with water to make sure you got rid of all the vinegar.

but after some hard scrubbing the vinegar does the rest and removes all the smell.

yea. People use different ratios. I personally use 2 parts hot water and 1 part vinegar and i let the stuff sit there for a hour or overnight. I leave it overnight if it is after a session. Otherwise a quick swirl of the stuff and hot water.

I was honeslty a little sketchy at first too. Vinegar works...omg it really works. At first it like, "OMG, my hookah smells like vinegar!!!". But then after a rinse with warm or hot water, the odors are gone
