nidal105
Hey everyoneWas doing a random google search and came across this site:http://www.barandhookah.com.au/As far as i'm aware, its the first hookah site I have ever seen in Australia. They claim to operate out of Wetherill Park, which I think is in Parramatta, Sydney. have any of the Aussies here dealt with them before? Know anything about them? The site looks like its under construction cos most of the buttons on the left hand side of the home page just lead to blank pages with no products on them. I saw some Mya hookahs (like the Bambino) but they had different names?? Also they use UPS to calculate shipping, which I thought was a little bit weird. Gonna do some more snooping around. Canberra-G
Hey, Not so sure about it, some products don't look as if they are quality.Btw Were do you buy your tabacco? You are from Canberra also i gather?
nidal105
Hey,Yeah I am from Canberra...how'd you figure out? Haven't been on this forum in a while so I haven't met many of the new members. The only place that sells tobacco that I know of is Cedars Middle Eastern groceries in Mawson shops. The range is fairly limited, but good enough to keep you satisfied for quite a while. I've been buying from there for years, so sometimes I feel like a change because they tend to get the same brands/flavours all the time.
Canberra-G
Cheers mate, I saw a few packs in baileys corner not sure if its great though, But thanks alot ill go there this weekend
nidal105
No probs. Yeah the stuff in bailey's corner is "Afzal", its not that good and its over-priced. "Al-Fakher" is a pretty good brand, its the best one that they stock in Mawson. And just a small hint : always check the production date on the tobacco box, the more recent it is, the better. In Mawson they sometimes stock old, dry tobacco. So if its more than about 14 months past the production date, I wouldn't buy it.

john_smith
I've never seen this site before, but it looks a bit dodgy. But is it just me, or is this hookah a QT: http://www.barandhookah.com.au/product/?pr...h&pcode=199Astro? What? And they also have what looks like a vortex (correct me if I'm wrong) listed as a bohemian: http://www.barandhookah.com.au/product/?pr...ah&pcode=79And the crowning achievement, the 'Leaf Bag' *WINK*: http://www.barandhookah.com.au/product/?pr..._&pcode=580 Pity this site is so dodgy, I'd love a local retailer. Their address and phone no. are also on the site. It looks tempting cos their shipping is piss cheap (when you compare it to goods from the US). mushrat
Ya, that's a QT. Some places rename their Mya stuff. One place calls the QT the "crown".If anybody orders from them let me know and I'll make a review thread for them in the Vendor's section.
d_ice
this is nuffin... you can find EVERYTHING on that website in any Arab shop... if you're in South West Sydney then you'll know that there's an Arab shop on every corner just go to a proper Arab neighborhood such as Auburn, Merrylands, Granville, Fairfield, Wetherill Park, Liverpool, Bankstown, Punchbowl, Lakemba... oh and Bondi (East Sydney) is a pretty Jewish neighborhood so they MIGHT have some argeela places... the only thing those shops won't have is the bowl with the built-in wind cover but then again this website doesn't have it either...my 2c Edited September 8, 2007 by d_ice
john_smith
Does anyone know of any good persian/egyptian stores in Brisbane which stock hookah products? The only shop I'm aware of at the moment is Off Ya Tree (run by stoners, not Arabs, so they know very little about hookahs) in Queenstreet Mall and they have pretty limited stock. Obviously if you lived in Sydney and you wanted to buy from this company you could just go to their warehouse in Parramatta.

john_smith
Haha I doubt I'd ever buy a hookah from them, but they stock AF which is my favourite smoke. I think I might just get the Vortex from barandhookah once I get sick of my current one. I think there is another store that sells shisha as well called "Wintergarden Pipe Store" which is in the Wintergarden. Might check them out at some stage. nidal105
Hi everyone,I actually ordered a hookah from barandhookah.com.au and received it via courier this afternoon (11/09/07). It is a Mya Hookah (it looks like a Vortex) and I must say so far it looks really good. I am yet to fire it up yet, so this post is mainly to describe my experience with this vendor. All in all, it was a pretty smooth transaction with no real hassles. I placed the order last Tuesday, and I paid via PayPal. Now my PayPal is linked to my bank account through direct debit, so it can take up to 6 or 7 business days for the money to be debited from my bank account. The payment to barandhookah.com.au was completed (ie they received my money) yesterday morning. They then posted it, and it arrived at my door the next day (I live in Canberra and the Hookah is posted from Sydney). When you compare the postage costs to shipping from the US, the price is very reasonable. I had my Hookah delivered via courier for $10, and had previously ordered a hose and paid $2 for postage. There are a few small technical glitches on the site because it is still under construction, for example I had to press the submit button twice to send my order through before proceeding to pay, and this happened both times I ordered from the site. When you order, there is a "My Account" section which lets you keep track of your order status, so you know when they receive payment, and when they post the item out. The Hookah itself has the "Mya" logo etched onto every part of it (stems, tray, base and bowl), and it came in a box with small foam peanuts all around the pieces so it was fairly well packaged. This particular Hookah does not come with a carrying case, but it came with tongs. Below are some photos of the Hookah, sorry about the quality I took them with my phone: Edited September 12, 2007 by nidal105

nidal105
QUOTE Wow, wish my phone took pics like that >.<Yeah actually the photo quality turned out better than I expected, I just got this phone a few days ago its one of the newer Sony Ericsson models with a 3.2 MP Cybershot lens in it. It beats my old camera which had the crappiest lens.

john_smith
Slightly off topic, but I was told by a friend that he bought some Al Fakher today- from Coles. Yes, Coles. If what he's saying is true than that is absolutely awesome. Has anyone else seen a Coles selling shisha?
