Scoop
just drag across, the flat part will do it alone
mushrat
I only use 2 circles of holes around the outer edge myself. Why let air in where there is no tobacco. also holes over the center hole will allow air directly down the center without going through/over the tobacco. Scoop
I do what works for me. Flavor is plentiful already.

Allia22
What size 3k? Size makes a huge difference, no matter what anyone tells you And my god, I can't believe you threw out blueberry... T_T If you don't like it PLEASE trade it to someone else, I would have jumped on that. Edited September 5, 2007 by Allia22
Xeft
I had gotten this problem as well. It was simple to solve for me. However much you pack in your bowl will depend how much coals you use. Using alot of heat with Tangiers will make it uncomfortable. For example: I used a small ceramic bowl that can hold like less then 25grams of shisha and pretty much fill the bowl. Point is, I used 1 coal HALF of a Taru whole and was able to smoke nearly the whole bowl with just that one half of a coal. When I first smoked Tangiers I had used 3 pieces and I nearly died from the tickle sinsation.Try using like half-less then normal amount of coals you use. So like 1-2 instead of 3.I don't pack the Tangiers like everyone else might. I just fluff it up to the top. No shoving in or anything, that just makes it hard to inhale. symptom CY
I usually use a little less tobacco than what Scoop pictured and 3 halves of 33mm or 40mm Three Kings coal. In my experience, packing the tobacco that high leads to a somewhat muddy taste, at least if you're using Three Kings. With Canary Golden Japanese coals it works just fine, if I remember correctly...As has been said, don't pack the tobacco down -- just drop a glob in there and fit it to the shape of the bowl. I've never really had to lower the amount of heat I use for Tangiers, but I do think that the close the tobacco is to the foil, the less heat you need, so adjust your heat accordingly.I'm not such a fan of the Juicy Peach... just was not impressed by the flavor. Blueberry isn't really my thing either...........lllleeemmmmmmmoonnnnn bbblllllloooossssssssssssssooooommmm...............kaaaaashhhhmirrrrrrr..... apppppplleeeeeeeeeee........... Sonthert
I suggest 4 quarters, not three halves. On a large phunnel...I would use 4 quarters...more like 3 for a small.Ironically, women seem to have no problem packing Tangiers...mostly men. Also, its not 50/50 non-problems/problems, its more like 95/5...of course, all the people that have problems look for help, but the people who don't are sitting at home, smoking. sznapsy
Okay try it like this: TO get it started take 1 half of the 33mm 3 king and break into into 2, to make quaters, put the quaters on opposite sides of the bowl. Then add another coal once the other 2 are going and u see the thing smoke coming throught, gradually add till it's perfect but not harsh. You might need different amounts of heat for each bowl depending on how it was packed, which can be different each time. I gradually add heat till its perfect, if you use 2 halfs, and add a third and its harsh right with the third but with just 2 its too thin, add a wind cover. consider the wind cover as 1/8. You can do it, just you gotta escape the idea that tangiers smokes like other brands and just trust the fact that it requires like no heat to produce clouds. I got the dark green and it looks like a grenade I am going to do this today though with quarters of coal...I like that idea the best!
Allia22
F666, try:Acclimating it longer than 4 hours.Don't chuck ANY juice. I've stood by my counter squeegie-ing the juice out of the bag with my driver's license for a good 5 minutes. Juice = yay.Stir the crap out of it, some of the flavors are diverse making some components settle to the bottom of your container, along with juice.See the consistancy of it sitting in your container after you've stirred it? That's what it should look like in your bowl. It's difficult with the funnel, but you'll figure it out. I pack it to overflowing, and allow the foil to smush it down.Poke holes. Poke many, poke large.Keep in mind that this stuff is very sensitive to heat! Be patient, start off slowly and add more if you feel you've gotten all you could out of your small amount, then add more, one piece at a time, each adding its heat completely until you've reached your ideal temp.Remember your amount of coals so you can just fire it up next time.If it gets harsh or tastes funky at any time, just take a coal off and let your bowl recover. Let it sit.... Eric said women seem to have better luck with Tangiers than men and the key may be not in the way we pack but the way we smoke. I've noticed men tend to take hit after hit after hit whereas women tend to relax between draws, like one every 30-45 seconds or so. So it sits there with heat on it for several moments in between. When I'm charging the hose, yeah, Tangiers sometimes seems a little harsh, but once it's going and I'm naturally taking a draw on it every half minute or so, I instantly start to get much smoother smoke and amazing flavor. Take two draws one right after the other and the harshness seems to want to come back. So you might want to take that into account as well.'Rani

I don't need directions... If you keep driving west long enough, eventually you will hit something you know and be unlost.... lol like the pacific ocean.Actually women have an easier time not fliching when shooting a gun with some kick... is therer a correlation? Who knows. No one has mentioned that that tingling sensation is usually just the nicotine, warm water in the vase will cut down on that some... as will smoking a bit and getting used to it (I get absolutely no buzz from my tangiers or other unwashed baccys) I don't wanna steer anyone away from tangiers since its definitely near the top of my rotation, but if the buzz/tingling bothers, a washed tobacco (more or less nicotine free) will make those issues go away...Unless you're throwing partially lit coals on there, but that doesn't seem to be the issue

I am a firm believer now that it must be something else like the nicotine or ??...HOW MANY OF YOU THAT DO NOT GET THIS FEELING ARE CIGARETTE SMOKERS??...I am almost thinking that this is the main reason?..I am not a smoker and I do ntoice that Tangiers has a strong tobacco taste like smoking a cigarette. I know that I am not the only one because my buddies say the same thing.
