New2Hookah
Hey guys, as the name suggests, Im kinda new to this hookah thing. I was introduced a few months back, but have read alot and did some research. I kinda know that egyptians and syrians are the better way to go, so I just wanted to ask if any of you guys can point me in the right direction. I know there are several sites out there, but many of the hookahs look the same. Do some sites carry better quality than other sites? Thanks... Thanks...With hookahs, you generally get what you pay for... doesn't mean you have to spend a lot though. I would check out the reviews if I were you, as they will give detailed reviews of some hookahs. A lot of people here will recommend MYA's, although some complain the glass breaks easily. Also, people will recommend Khahil Mamoons(sp?) ... I just ordered a mya vortex. But aanyways, look through the review section. Oh, and welcome to the forum Edited September 8, 2007 by The King
SafeSearchOff
hey, welcome to the forum! the review section is a very valuable (sp?) spot, check it out.a few of the more frequently reccomended hookahs from people here:Mya QT - older ones are better though, the new bases on them are a little thinGlyph from Hookah-Shisha.com and also available on Nazarhookah.comAl Fakher Hookahs - available from AlFakheronline.comKhalil Mamoun hookahs - available from HookahCompany.com (brass cored - the best), hookah-life, and pimpyourhookah.hope this helps. any more questions just ask.if you plan on getting a hookah from a local shop snap a pic with your phone and ask us here first - sometimes people get ripped from local shops. i know a few people who have.again, welcome. there's a great knowledge base here, I hope you get what your looking for. waterboi
welcome to the forum! There is a lot of good companies to order from in the vendor review threads. I did a lot of reading before I purchased my first Hookah. Don't be affraid to search and ask if you have any questions. Most people on here will be glad to help you out and point you in a good direction.
billy
Welcome!, If you're buying your first hookah go for a small one for a start, go with either Mya QT or Mya Bambino
Allia22
Ugh, go for a $40 Hookah Company hookah instead. It's what I did, just get a grommet set with it as the ones that come with their hookahs usually suck balls. Mya bases have been breaking left and right lately

I've heard nothing but great things about Mya as a company and Mya QT as a hookah, but if you can afford something with a larger chamber and if transportability isn't a huge issue for you, I'd probably start with a larger hookah... New2Hookah
Well I've been looking around, and Syrians seem to be a bit out of my price range, so I'll be sticking to Egyptians. I ran across a few sites and picked some particular hookahs that interested me. What do you guys think, opinions would be great. Facts would be better. http://www.hookahcompany(dot)com/ocean_tea...h_2364_prd1.htm http://www.hookah-shisha(dot)com/store/pc/...mp;idproduct=93 http://www.southsmoke(dot)com/pd_the_mirage.cfm http://jandrhookahs(dot)com/egyptian-hookahs-c-1.html http://www.hookahhub(dot)com/Jewel-Classic...ipe-p-4975.html http://www.hookahcity(dot)com/17-lead-design-hookah-26.html http://www.hookah-life(dot)com/StoreBox/eg.../hel-000221.htm http://nazarhookah(dot)com/index.php?main_...;products_id=70Sorry about the (dot)com thing, I got an error message when posting the real web link Now with all of these, I have found some similarities. Hookahcompany, JandRHookahs, and Nazar Hookah all seem to sell similar 22" Egyptian hookahs. Even closely related, the hookahs that are on JandRhookahs are identical to the ones on Hookahcompany. One site for $25, the other for $45. HookahShisha seems to have the same shaft as the other guys (correct me if Im wrong) but much simpler vase styles for a price much higher than the 2 sites mentioned above. I like the one at Hookahhub because i believe its solid stainless steel (again, someone correct me if im wrong) Id figure that this piece would last much longer and withstand more abuse? I like the one at Hookahlife as well, it seems like a good deal for a larger-sized hookah. Some of these guys arent in the vendors reviews, so I dont know. JandR seem to have the best prices and all the same quality, yet no reviews (new?) Hookahcompany seems to have the best selection. Hookahhub has money back guarantees. Lol, any offer some help helping me choose. I would like to get the "funnel" bowl because Iv read great things. I would also like to get a cleaning kit, coals, and of course tobacco. Thanks guys..now I know why this forum is the best.

SafeSearchOff
that hookah you posted from hookahcity i believe is a Syrian. some1 correct me if i'm wrong, but i swear those hookahs with the metal plating on the bases like that are syrians.if you end up ordering from hookahcity pelase tell me how it goes, they have some nice things but i don't think anyone has ever taken the plunge. New2Hookah
JandRhookahs.com has funnels as well. I was concerned because they didnt have tobacco listed. I emailed them, and rest assured, they do have tobacco. I have narrowed my decision down to Hookahhub.com, hookahcompany.com and jandrhookahs.comThe hookahhub guarantee is really attractive. However, their pricing isn't all that great compared to these others and their selection is limited.JandRhookahs.com seem to be really good so far. Their prices are extremely good, they have most brands of tobacco, they carry funnels, and several coals and accessories. If I ever wanted to upgrade to syrians, they have those as well. Only thing is, not that much about them as far as past customers.Hookahcomapny.com seem to sell the same identical hookahs to JandR but for about $20.00 more. However, their selection is incredible for shisha, coals, and accessories. On top of that their reviews are great, and everyone, on average, seems to be satisfied with them. They have been in business for a while, so they know what they're doing..Anyone mind putting these 3 in order as far as who you'd go with?
Washerdryercmbo
Hookah Company is a good call. From my experience, they know their stuff and they will happily tell you everything you need to know, then sell you everything you need to have. waterboi
out of the three I would say Hookah Company as well. More reviews and a trusted site among hookahforum members. They have a good selection and you can get everything at one place.
hookah hippie
I am gonna agree with the two previous posts and say hookah companyI have ordered from there the other two I have not
Allia22
Yep, I'd say HC as well. If you're ordering that Ocean Tear hookah from them, then I'd suggest getting an extra grommet set from them as well, as you're never quite sure on what's going to be coming with your hookah. New2Hookah
Well, I went ahead and placed my order with JandR. Their customer service is top notch in my opinion. I sent them an email through their site, and they generally replied back within 10-15 mintues. They answered all of my questions and even gave me a call to verify everything. The owner actually also gave me a discount code to put in. I ended up getting the "22" ultimate hookah package" They have it on sale right now for $49.99 and it includes basically everything I was looking for except the funnel, which I bought seperately. http://jandrhookahs.com/22-ultimate-hookah-package-p-55.htmlI let you guys know how everything went with them as soon as the package comes in. Thanks for everyones help here, I really appreciate it.

New2Hookah
Well, my package from www.jandrhookahs.com came in today, and all I can say is, WOW. To begin, the hookah and everything else was package beautifully, with extreme care, and not a single thing was broken/scratched/damaged. I figure this is expected from a company though, so it gets better. I had ordered the 22" Egyptian hookah package deal, shown here:<br /><a href="http://jandrhookahs.com/22-ultimate-hookah-package-p-55.html" target="_blank">http://jandrhookahs.com/22-ultimate-hookah-package-p-55.html</a><br />Which honestly, I dont think anyone else can beat this deal. The hookah itself was wrapped in about 7 layers of bubble wrap and on top of that, peanuts on all 4 sides. Inspecting the hookah, it was flawless, paint wasnt chipped, shaft wasnt bent or damaged, etc etc. The funnel bowl was wrapped in like 10 layers of bubble wrap, and comfortably placed underneath the shaft of the hookah for extra protection (i assume) I took it out, set it up with Al Fakher strawberry, and all I can say is DAMN. This thing hits like a dragon. The smoke was incredibly thick and tasty. The draw wasnt too hard, but there was slight restriction; it was expected though, its a 22". All I can say from my experience is that, J & R is a top notch service, and they sell top notch products. The Al Fakher was dated production 07/07 and expires 07/09. Freshest Iv seen. The hookah hit like a dream and is solid as hell for a little one, and the packaging was outta this world. Point scale, Ill rate them 9.99/10 (nobody is perfect, <img src="style_emoticons/default/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />)**Edited** I forgot to add, I'll post picutres as soon as I can.
