First Hookah, I Have Done My Research

Recommended Posts

So after hours of scouring the internet for all the hookah information I have come to the conclusion of purchasing my first hookah, and hopefully the only one for a while. I have read about the Egyptian Hookahs at Social Smoke and I really like the Two hose Sirius hookah and I have also read several reveiws here about the Al Fakher 26" hookah from Al Fakher Online. I am wanting to spend about 120 bucks so I could buy the Sirius II with some shisha (not sure what kind yet since I haven't had lots of different kinds) and it would come out to be about 106 bucks or so with discount. Or, I could go Al Fakher's Hookah Ultimate Pack 1 for about 110 bucks not including shipping.

I like the washable hoses on the Sirius II and I wasn't sure if the hoses on the Al Fakher 26" are up to par. That might be the breaking point. So are the hoses on the Sirius II better than the Al Fakher 26" and is the bowl better on the Al Fakher 26" or the Sirius II? I know the Al Fakher 26" has a problem with having a short down stream stem requiring a lot of water in the vase leaving a small area for smoke to till the rest of the vase. Is that a severe problem for doing big hits and such?

If I get the Sirius II then I am considering getting Layalina watermelon, pomegrante, watermelon since they come with it all. Are these good flavors from Layalina cause I have enjoyed fruit flavor shisha and some stronger shisha's like Cinnamon?

I know this is my first post on this board but I have been reading quite a bit. I thank you for taking the time to help me come to a conclusion, although I have a feeling that you all will say that they are both good hookahs.

The short downstem shouldn't really be a problem, I never had a problem with short downstems in my experience. The AF hookah comes with a MYA Washable hose which I personally like. The Sirius is most likely a generic egyptian hose that is not washable although I wouldn't recommend washing the MYA hose anyway. No matter which you go with, its a win. Great choices and thanks for doing research! Welcome to Hookah Forum. Edited by MechAnt

Hmm, i don;t really think the bowls matter much, believe me.. you'll end up buying a Phunnel bowl after being on here for a while. And I'd go with Layaline Watermelon, and Mangosteen i just tried and it's delicious! But pomegranate has a pretty weak fruit taste. And you might wanna go with a brass stem hookah from Social Smoke, if there are any left, brass is becoming extinct and it might be good to get your hands on one. The Al Fakher i hear is an amazing piece, so i don't think you can go wrong with your choices, which by the way are very good.

You cannot go wrong with either tool for smoking. The Al Fakher's stem looks short, but functions perfectly. I have the 36" Al Fakher and love it. Social Smoke hookahs are renowned for their excellent smoke and sturdy craftsmanship. I would like to try and encourage you to stay away from multi-hose pipes, especially as a first pipe, because they can ruin a good smoke. One hose must be plugged while the second one is in use. It usually ends up as one person asking the other person(s) smoking to plug the hose about thirty times a session. wink.gif

Don't let the hoses make or break which hookah you really want, a good hose can be had for relatively nothing. The Al Fakher healthy hose is a very high quality hose that does NOT have to be pitched after use. I believe this is the 2nd or 3rd month I've been using it. I cannot remember the "stock" hose that came with my Al Fakher hookah. Mya hoses can be had for 10 bucks and are decent. Namoor hoses (my personal favorite) are very expensive, but worth the price for at least one truly washable hose (check hookah-shisha.com) for them.

Layalina is a good deal shisha. It's low price and high flavor makes it a good shisha. Try their raspberry, lemon (almost tart-like) and watermelon.

Hope this helps!

I own the 26" AF hookah.

True it does have a short stem, but dont let that discourage you.

Smoking hookah for 5+ years now, i yet have not come across a hookah that hits like this one (used to have a 22" syrian). I do indeed use the phunnel so that may contribute to the amount of smoke, but the air-flow on the hookah is perfect. Highly recommended.

Layalina is decent. Good flavors in my opinion would be peach, blueberry, and raspberry. ( i know im forgetting one more flavor, just cant think of it right now.)
