clickhea
i purchased a vortex from hookah-shisha a few months ago, the thing was used all of 10 times. I usualy smoke from my qt, and only whip out the vortex when friends are around.Tonight i was smoking with friends and was using the vortex. When i blow to release the purge valve, smoke was coming out of my base, the part where the metal connects to the glass of the base.Do i contact hookah-shisha, or mya?this sucks :[
Dekon
I know you're more experienced than me, but did you try checking if it was air tight? If it wasn't maybe that's the reason why smoke was coming out.Off topic - Maybe it was sssssssssssssmokin'! clickhea
yeah its kinda hard to explainthe part where the metal piece is attached to the base, thats where its leaking, it has nothing to do with me, it has to do with the seal from the factory. ZenSilk
Yeah i think the base and the metal threads are out together by glue. . Thats atleast how my acrylic is. AND they ARE made in China. It wouldnt surprise me if the glass ones were like that.

The King
I just ordered a vortex, so no more criticizing it or I'll get worried.
ASUSEAN1
yes, another one of mya's quality products. Although the base of the vortex is better than the newer line of hookahs which is a good thing
Allia22
Bah, I'd rather use some sort of epoxy on it than go through the hassle of contacting companies and shipping things out.We have to worry about vortexes now?

No, the vortex is one of the decent hookahs. The glass isn;t the best of the mya line but it is def. not the worst. The screw on stem must have just gotten messed up, maybe a defect.. i have never had a problem with the screw on's
ZenSilk
It's not a glass problem though, more of a glass-to-metal threads problem. I'd contact H-S, i'd bet they'd do something about it. I recently contacted them about cracked threads on the shaft of mine, and they said not to worry, but if it breaks they'd replace it immediately. They put notes on my account. [LB]
VERY SIMPLE PROBLEM MY FRIENDIm assuming this 'vortex' hookah you have has a threaded stem that complies with the female threaded base, as all those mya hookahs do. If its leaking from these threads, its quite normal, its what happens after moderate use of your hookah, all that unscrewing and screwing has ground down the threads enough for air to escape. So here is my advice. The first thing is from now on unscrew your stem very carefully, unscrewing it fast causes chaffing (no sexual innuendo you assholes) and friction, which leads to the wearing down of the threads. The second thing is for your air leak problem. Go to home depot or any hardware store and pick up some plain teflon tape. It looks like thisshouldn't cost more than 5 bucks. Wrap it tightly (not so tightly it snaps) around your threads and then gently screw it in. This is only temporary and the tape will more than like fall off, but this will fix your air leak problem. If a hookah can break jus by taking off the stem and the suction can "pop" out a corner then it obviously isn't a good hookah, especially if it happens twice. i have done research on it, and the softness/thickness ratio is all wack. You can have hella thin glass tht is strong but it is a harder glass.. mya on the other hand has been making these new hookahs out of soft glass and they are extremely thin. i have looked at the vortex, never smoked out of one, and can say that the glass is one of the softer ones but it is noticeably thicker than the new line and should stand up to some abuse. Someone was talking about the mya pineapple in the other thread, that hookah has a great base, its thick and its hard glass
The King
Yeah, i agree with you, good to let people know.... I'm hopin my vortex holds up, and I think it will. I'll be careful with it, but nothing you can do to stop something as lame as the suction breaking it. Oh, and when I said you were bitching about mya, wasn't the right word, meant more like criticizing...bitching is more like whining.

Glottis2
Another vote for thread sealant tape, except that I would say that the chances of the tape falling off any time soon are very slim, that stuff sorta sticks to itself over time. It's magical.
