Funky/mis-represented Flavors...

Recommended Posts

Twice now my molasses has tasted like hazelnut or some type of smokey/nutty flavor.
First was with Al-Amir Strawberry/Kiwi.
Second time was with Al-Fakher Banana. Pretty nasty on it's own but the roasted/nutty flavor just added to the foulness.
I remember also just smelling Al-Amir Banana Split...still sealed in box...and it had this same aroma.

Then with Nakhla Coconut, King Moassel Pina Colada and Pharoahs Sex On the Beach (not the same as SBuzz) I got a super plasticy smell and taste.

Anyone experience this or have other weird flavors come through while smoking? Edited by MatthewLee

My Pharoahs Raspberry had a real odd taste to it - like Plastic with a side order of Diesel.

Had to add honey and glycarin and leave it for about a month before i could smoke it - real odd.

It could also just be a 'characteristic' of that flavour - IE : Al Fakhir strawberry has a huge coconut smell/taste.

What coals are you using? Could the nutty taste be coming from the coals?

I was using the Japanese knock-offs, I recently switched to Stargate.
With both coals i've noticed it.

I also use the Japanese knock-off's and i don't notice any nutty taste... How bizarre!

King - as discussed in the other thead - just by the look of the tobacco i'm sure it's cheaper somehow... If Sonthert picks up this thread he might be able to offer a more professional opinion on that.

+1 to everything, all my AW's tasted like plastic except for one tub of A9 I got through a trade, Pharoahs was disgusting (tasted just like the Romman of the same flavor o_O), and the only unwashed brands I've had any luck with as far as flavor have been Tangiers and Al Qemah.
