Tangiers..... Orange Soda & Cocoa Arrival...

Recommended Posts

So I got my Tangiers, orange soda... an also COCOA ...1st time using this product...and heard mixed reviews... I guess I fell into the category of "can't smoke" this brand.

orange soda = smells very good.... acclimated 4 hours prior... then tried on 2 occasions two methods of packing, 1st glopped tobacco into the phunnel slightly over the rim...2nd..broke the tobacoo up sprinkled it into the phunnel slightly over the rim, made it airy and light for airflow...wrapped foil poked rings around the phunnel... 2-3 coals... once I got it going seems harsh....

cocoa = smells VERYYYY GOOD...was really hoping to get to smoke this flavor and get a buzz ... acclimated 4 hours prior to packing.. tried both sprinkling , then packing on two occasions... on both occasions I over packed so that the tobacco would hit the foil.... On coco f-line I noticed I would cough once inhaling in the smoke... so lead me to believe this is for hardcore smokers...

Ive smoked, al fakher, alwaha, starbuzz, fumari, nakhla, romman, and others..And with the Tangiers I instantly cough when trying to inhale....

So my question.... for those who smoke Tangiers and are able to light up good, big clouds...are you also cig smokers?... maybe that would explain why I cant inhale f-line cocoa, but still doesn't explain orange soda... on the orange soda it would become harsh...quick...nothing like the 1-2 hours like everyone says...

So is TANGIERS tobacco more for real smokers...... cigarettes ,cigar smokers...etc... Like I said I am not a cigarette smoker so this might explain things..The more people who reply might help clarify this an make sense of it all... thanks in advance...

My setup:

-hookah = Mya Vortex
-coals I used = noor or golden coals
-bowl = Medium phunnel Edited by lp640man

yeah it takes some patience to get it down but im quite sure with practice you can get it to smoke well. What i would suggest and often do is mix another or a few kind(s) of shisha you normaly are able to smoke enjoyably normally. Also if your looking for a nice buzz nakhla will definatly do the trick. Hope that helps.

Thanks roots...

so are you saying I need to get used to this line...like adapt to it... ? Like for people who can’t smoke cigs an inhale them..if they keep smoking..then gradually they'll become used to cigs? Or are you saying I have the technique wrong?

you guys are starting to scare me....im receiving my orange soda tomorrow!! unsure.gif

from what i understand, its suppose to be like this:

acclimate for 6-24hrs
break up leaves and pack to rim of bowl with moderate downwards pressure on the leaves
put foil tightly and make many holes, i believe Eric himself makes over a 100 holes
Put 1 coal on each corner forming a triangle or square.

did you guys do all the above? Edited by racemyghost

There's no need to break up the tobacco and I'd pack the bowl lightly. What are you using to put the tobacco into the bowl? If you're using your fingers try using a fork. Scoop a good amount onto the fork and flip the fork over sliding the tobacco into the bowl. Make sure the tobacco is touching all around the edges of the bowl. Acclimating for ~4hrs should be plenty enough too. Don't forget to mix the tobacco in a container before using, other than that I don't know what to tell you. Edited by mdl

Well my first time smoking tangiers i messed it up, the next time i smoked it i mixed a little bit of something else in and it was easier to smoke. But now i'v got it down biggrin.gif Does anyone have that Glass Mod for the phunnel? Mine should be getting here either today or tomorrow and i was wondering if the setup was the same.. More heat or less heat?

you dont need the glass mod for tangiers.

From my own personal experience, if the tobacco is juicy wet, tangiers or not, you do not need the mod. Ive smoked numerous times with and without the mod with non-tangiers tobacco and have gotten better results without the mod (keep in mind, it has to be real wet like Al Fakher or Layalina)

You gotta mix it so it's super juicy, acclimate it for more than four hours (i did a day and 2 days) , slightly PACK it in, so it's a little smushed down, and use natural coals for best experience. if you want exactly how i do mine, read the earlier tangiers post from yesterday.

And no, i don't smoke cigs. Sickening. Well, if you count cloves, but that's only at parties cause they are illegal in Utah for some fucking stupid reason. (i'll refrain from using the "M" word. )

How about my main question on ..how many people inhale ciggerettes? I cant inhale f-line cocoa... is this becuase its way to strong or because my packin method...

And also I tried both ways... packing lightly over the rim(sprinkling) ..then using the foil ..poking lots of holes..an also glopping it in there slightly over the rim...

Pack it so when you look at it your like.. "haha BS theres no way that shits gonna work. Pssh. Stupid ZenSilk over at HF should be put in Prison."

ANd you can't forget to pack it down a little. Kinda like an old guy Pipe. Only not that much. But pretty close.

I hate cigarettes, they are for trailer trash women and guys who are obsessed with cars and have a height deficiency.

AND you need to get used to the nic. content in normal Tangiers before you step up to F-Line... that's got caffiene in it. That'll mess ya up big time. Nic. + Caffiene... It's like getting totally wasted at a gay bar.. and waking up the next morning.. I think you know where im going..

LOL......................

I have both the small and medium phunnel.... Would be GREEEEEEEEATTTTTT if you posted an image of how this should be packed.from what your saying is that the donut ring inside the phunnel should be packed tight and high with these leaves leaving no room for air mixture....correct em if im wrong.... I hear differnt things like how you described( pack the hell outta it)...then i also hear( sprinklie it high for airflow).... I know one thing for sure is that tangiers everyone mentions to over pack...

I neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed some pix.... anyone out there able to post some tangiers packing methods on phunel bowls.... im sure im nto the only one who would apreciate it... thanks

sounds good...

I can do the orange soda... just not lightling up....

the f-line coco is where im instantly couphing on inhale...but DAMN the cocoa smellllllllllllllsss good.... i'll be tryin to mix coco with other flavors maybe from fumari...maybe do a blueberry cocoa ...

What do you recomend for mixing... for example... should I layer f-line on the bottom of the phunnel..or on top.. or should I do a 30-70 mix and mix well..then pack (f-line being 30%)

What i mean to say is that by mixing the tangiers with something you can normally get to smoke well you can still enjoy the tangiers and not need to have the technique down. Smoking cigs has nothing to do with this besides how hard the nicotine buzz will hit you, tangiers is not a harsh brand in terms of draw at all once you get the packing down. Once agian just keep trying and eventually you will find what best works for you. Good luck and i hope this helps!

Can someone who really has it down make a step by step youtube video for all of us who just don't seem to get it?
That would actually be ridiculously awesome.

Thanks in advance to whoever does it.

Didn't djbomberto have a step by step!?!?! on you tube? I forgot what it was called though if it was actually tangiers. I think it was.....

The only time I smoke any kind of cigarette is when I'm stressing the hell out at work. Occasionally when I'm singing. In both cases never your over the counter American brands. Always something imported and usually flavored because they taste more shisha-like to me. And I inhale Tangiers just fine. I love the Orange Soda. It's so damn close to out of a can orange soda that seems like I can taste carbonation - and you know that's got to be all in the flavor mix. Unless the flavor master himself has discovered some way to carbonate tobacco!
