John Deere
Well, I needed some new coals, and the shop by my house had swiftlites, so I decided to try them (against prior warning), because I had a roll at home which I thought were swiftlite, and werent that bad. These of course turned out to be three kings. So now Im stuck with a box of these things that smell like smoldering a** when you light them. I hate myself. yashman19
I've used three kings before, and don't mind that much. I never use any form of quicklights now that I have a means for lighting my nats, but a tip for you with the 3Kings. They work perfectly fine if you light them, let them sit for about 5 minutes until they are fully red and no more black is on the coals. This isn't just good advice for quicklights in general. Whenever smoking, put off smoking until you can get your coal fully lit. This goes for nats as well.
John Deere
yeah i know that, but these suckers stink AFTER they are completely red, its like a burning rubber smell before they are red, and a chemically smell after.
dmoh7
whats your technique for burning the nats?
cypress
I do mine on a gas stove with the top portion of the steamer pot. It works great for me. Some other people use a blow torch as well and that works great too.
