I just posted about this...

But I created a hookah table and loaded it up in the ol' suburban for a quick trip to town... Pics can be found in threads called "Hookah Table I built" and "Hookah Table I built part 2" I secured the coal with a foil hat.

Rule #1: make a foil ridge around the edge, or HOLD THE COALS! They don't seem like they will fall... but oh, they will. I have a few scars to prove it.

I've used a Mini MYA and a MYA bohemian.

I'll post pics with the technique as soon as I go to the store to get more foil.

Lighting the coals in the car: if you don't use quicklites, get an old cooking pot and out the coals in there and use a blowtorch

I dont suggest smoking in the car while driving, it will fall and burn ur seats and anythin in the car.. and if u are thinking about putting foil around it .. the coal will keep on moving all over the head and either burn everythn so no 2nd coal or it will not warm up properly and smoke will be garbage and taste will get effected as well.. u can always stop for a session on the side =]

I am not a pro car hookaholic but I did try it once... The coal didn't move at all... Smoke was pulling thick and we replicated the movies where gansters roll up in a smokey car....

We weren't that careful while driving either. That was just once though... maybe we were lucky.

No, no. The coal will not move at first. I smoked plenty of times and it never moved. But it can, and rather easily. It just doesn't look like it.

Oh yeah, obvi, you have to have someone else in the car to hold the hookah. Unless you get that cupholder one...

if u have a small head then yea i think that cud work out .. but i dun noe how ur coal didint move at all... but if u got a large head (and if ur the coal does move.. like it soppust to lol) then its kinda point-less

andddddd once the coal gets old like afte 20-25 min of smoking .. it will start ashing and all the crap will go into the head and yea i jus dun see the point of it rlly.. ill try one day forsure tho heh Edited by ayz

I would guess people hold it... Cup holder would have less stability and more likely to fall.... Good thing about the table I just stuck it in the back of the suburban and it stayed put.

Also if it is small enough you could stick it in the center console thing. Edited by OBY

I had someone hold it on the ground between their feet.

Yea thats what i was originally thinking, but then i saw some small ass hookah that would easily fit in a cupholder and was like.. hmm two ways. biggrin.gif Plus my cupholders probably wont work, the hookah would probably be touching my cd player and shit.. dont wanna mess that up.

My friends and I have smoked numerous times in the car. When we moved to edmond from tulsa (OKlahoma) we were making a bunch of trips back and forth. The trips lasted about an hour and a half, so... perfect. The biggest piece of advise I can give is, make sure you have a big ash tray underneath your bowl, wide with big walls. Have someone hold it and maintain the coals, it'll works like a dream. My preferred way to drive for sure.

If you want to smoke in an automobile I got five words for you: The Wich or The Hobohookah. Grab a bottle that fits perfectly in the cup holder (I use a Sigg 1L with the Hobo, a Crush bottle for The Witch) and build a crown for the coals. Check out this video,

I love smokin' on my way up to Eau Claire, 2 hours of bliss rollin' down open highways.

I just don't see how you lot do it.

Having something like this in the uk would have your ass in a jam in a New York second.

It's just bloody dangerous. Or maybe we drive faster?

I just can't see me hacking around J27 of the M25 with hose in one hand and car in t'other.

yeah, at the speed i drive i cant imagine trying to handle the car with one hand and a hose with the other. now for the passengers, and maybe an occasional hit for the driver, it makes more sense.

i know this coming May when i go storm chasing again we are going to get a big suv and put my 24" monitor in the back for our radar screen. so i plan on bringing a hookah so i can sit there watching the radar and smoking while we chase tornados... laugh.gif

The J huh and the M what? Whats the speed limit on them there roads? Id think highway would be better than just a regular road at 40mph, highways are pretty smooth and shouldnt bump and stuff....

Technically? 70MPH.

Realisticlly? 98MPH.

Never breech 100MPH that is instant ban time sad.gif

JD - never goes 100. Normally 98 though

If using finger coals, why not put a foil hat around the bowl, then get a paperclip and make it the right size and wedge it between the coals? They wont roll and they will be held against the foil. Just a rough idea. It seems like it'd work fine....

i smoke in my car all the time! lol.
get a bowl with a wind protector....the ones that latch.
im too cheap to buy one, so i make one out of foil. i make a little wall around my bowl, its cool.
then i put my hookah in the case it came in. and i usually have a passenger who holds it and stuff.
but when im by myself i use my smaller one and i put it in a clean empty large container and then secure the container and then go with it.

good luck!!

What we do is get a strong package and put the Hookah in there. Place other items in there to make a snuggly fit so it can be stable. Also, use a wind cover. Unless you're like on a really straight long highway and you have someone with their legs around just in case.

I only smoke it when we take road trips on the highway. The coals will move around in the city since you have to make a lot of turns, stops, etc.

Any small box/container really. Sort of like a shoe box or a sturdy cardboard box you'd ship in an item in.
