Can't Get It Smoking...

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I went to Tunesia last week and bought me a nice waterpipe over there.
I just tried to get it started, crunched the Nakhla tobacco into small bits, put them in the bowl and placed a foil over it...

But then i wanted to light my coal (Alyamama, i got it with the hookah...) with a candle, and it just won't burn!
I've held it in the candle for 5 minutes, and when i touched it it wasn't even hot, the only thing that happens is a little fireworks effect the first time the fire touches the coal...When i light it too long, it just turns into ashes...

I guess it's just the coal that sucks, or am i doing something wrong?

Thank you!

Ok, when i mean 'crunch' the shisha i mean not dropping a whole chunk of it in the bowl. I'm dutch, so i can't always find the right words in English wink.gif
The shisha is brand new, so it is still very moist.

And i lit up a candle to save my lighter gas! I think the coals are natural, but i wonder what that sparkling is about the first time you light it... Edited by Disintegration

Yeah, the fireworks effect make it sound exactly like a quicklight coal, and it's totally possible that the coals just are really crappy. WHy not use different coals, look in the reviews section, you'll find some nice ones.

And crunch??
Shisha shouldnt "Crunch" my friend, ifg you meant that literally, then you need some new shisha...

If that was a figure of speech, then you shouldnt be crunching it, you should be mixing it with the juices and lightlty sprinkling it into the bowl and fluffing it up.

Only quicklights have that fireworks effect. ANd since it's ashing, that means it's going. But it's not hot?? It's probably just not a good coal to be using.

LOL - ok Lost in translation biggrin.gif

Those are not naturals if they spark. Just use a lighter to get it going.
ensure it's finished sparking and then blow it until it goes Red and Hot.

Then wait until they ash slightly then put them on the charcoal.

I think we should make a forum rule that if you have a problem with it not smoking right or something you take pictures, unless you dont have a camera. But almost every single thread like this would be solved so much quicker with pictures biggrin.gif

So have you tried just lighting the coal with just the lighter instead of the candle? That def looks like a quicklight to me .. i think lol. If the lighter doesnt light that thing up .. put up that video i gotta see it.

wow that looks like the crappiest of the crappy quicklight coals ive seen.

Camel may well be right.

And considering your in holland(?) then you are living in the home of some of the best quick-lights! 3-Kings of course.

However - I am sure that with a lighter you can get those coals to work.

Just hold a lighter under them for a good few seconds - they should take - unless they are totally shafted.
