The title says it all. I'm leaving tomorrow for a beer soaked week at Octoberfest, so if anybody knows of any lounges in Munich and wants to share, I'll be a very happy traveller.

Is google that hard to use? tongue.gif

I have smoked in that bar - it's ok. Couple of years ago now. There is also a Turkish community - So it should be easy to find

Google? What's that? angry.gif laugh.gif

Yeah, I checked out their web site just before I posted. Club 4004 looks a little too "clubby" for my personal tastes. Being a man of advancing years (read: over thirty), I'm looking for something a little more quiet that lends itself to relaxation and conversation. I may have to resign myself to forsaking hookah and only drinking german beer. Poor me...

Oi angry.gif

I'm 33 and do not consider myself 'of advancing years'

However - there should be opportunties to get your smoke on. But you may have to search for it a little.

Either that or just put up with freuline with boobs and beer in your face tongue.gif

age has absolutely nothing to do with it. you're only as old as you make yourself feel.
i will be turning 29 at the end of the year and i still love going to clubs and working in the club industry.
many of my dj friends and promoters are well over thirty and they can party harder than i can.

edit: club 4004 needs better shots of their venue. i think they should hire me. laugh.gif Edited by chinamon

I don't really care about the age thing, really. I just never really liked loud clubs to begin with, especially when it comes to hookah. Like I said, for me it's about relaxing and conversation. No judgement against clubs or club goers, it's just not my cuppa tea. (That was for you, JD)

ahh, i understand.
i can easily relax with a hookah in a club environment while the dj plays some dirty house music. too bad that would never happen in toronto.

Thanks man tongue.gif

I actually hate 99% of clubs. But occasionally i get dragged into clubs by my staff who want to party. So when I found this is it was like a dream - all the kiddies downstairs doing..... what ever the hell they do..... me upstairs with a pipe and a whiskey - Result smile.gif

There are a ton of hookah bars in Munich, especially along LeopoldStr. Theres a place called The Green Room right below Tijuana's on LeopoldStr. near a Mcdonalds. Check out Toy Town Munich website, its all you need to know about munich in English.

-Benji

Edit: Also check out Mocca, has more of the "Arabian Nights" feeling, its just another 5-8 mins walk from The Green Room.

Plus...there are tons of clubs in Munich, but then oktoberfest....girls in dirndls...what more can you ask for?! biggrin.gif Edited by Benji

Just arrived in Munich this afternoon. Tried to get into the hofbrau haus this evening. Much too crazy. Going to find a little out of the way place to have a couple of beers and relax.

Benji, if you want to smoke some hookah, give me a shout on my cell at 01149 1520 748 1149. We'll be here all week week shooting a pilot for a travel show.

Unfortunately not, but I had a great time anyway. I met some great people, drank some great beer and ate some great food. We were lucky enough to videotape the keg tapping at the Schottenhamel tent, and even had ein mass out of the first keg. After that, we spent a lot of time at the Hippodrom, although we shot footage in all the tents. I even managed to avoid becoming a bierleichen. laugh.gif

I can definitely see making this an annual trip.
