wow there are other ravers here? i dont get how you guys can listen to house though, its a bit too simplistic and repetitive. and just remember, real djs spin vinyl

if you think that only house is repetitive in the world of electronic music then you are so wrong. every 4x4 beat is repetitive... even breaks have a repetitive beat. as for only real djs spin vinyl.. LOL! i will argue that with only real djs play on cassette decks like back in the early years and they had to cut tapes. now that is talent... except there was no such thing as beat matching. what makes you think that only real djs dont play on cd? i agree that if we are talking about the dmc championships then scratching on a cdj is definitely a lot easier than on turntables since there is no cartridge or tone arm to worry about. but when it comes to regular mixing, many of today's top djs did play on vinyl until modern technology caught up with the industry and cdjs took over. a lot of clubs around here dont even have turntables in the booth any more. we are in the digital age.

well vinyl is all i spin. I have thought about getting into CD's but i really like the feel of vinyl.
Yes we are in the digital age but i believe real talent is in vinyl. Now days your mixer can do all the beatmatching and mixing for you which is what a lot of people do and call themselves DJs.

id rather watch someone do hot loops on a cdj than play on vinyl. sure you can juggle on two turntables and the crossfader on a mixer but you can do the same effect with precision on a single cdj and have it sound much better,

agreed. Like I said you can do more with CDJs. Just vinyl is my prefrence for now.

agreed. Like I said you can do more with CDJs. Just vinyl is my prefrence for now.

i dunno, maybe i just dont like house, and definitely dont like clubs. but i do like techno, hard tech and electro tech. and i have never been a fan of watching someone pull a cd out, put in another and push a button or two before bringing the track in. id much rather watch them have to find their spot on a record and keep it matched up for a bit. cd decks simplify things up a bit too much, some even beatmatch for you! anyone could dj with those, thats sad. but im definitely not trying to start an argument here, just throwin my 2 cents into the jar

everyone ive seen play on cdjs use the vinyl mode and cue the track the exact same way they would on vinyl. they beat match it then re-cue it again from the first beat again then start fading out certain frequencies from the first track and bringing in certain elements from the new track. ive watched djs such as sander kleinenberg, erick morillo, robbie rivera, bad boy bill, murk, donald glaude, axwell, benny benassi, nic fanciulli and a whole crapload of other djs do the same thing. so maybe there are lots of djs in your area that "cheat" with new technology but i havent seen any of them do that here...yet.

Wow. I would love to see some of those people in person and esp watch them spinning and mix music.
