mushrat
After speaking with Adrock and getting several comments from regular members about Vendors who just post product announcements and nothing more, it's been decided that enforcement of the "Vendors must also be active posters." rule will be stepped up.While many of the smaller vendors have been keeping quite active and contributing to the health of the forum, some have not, and several of the bigger vendors have been down right absent. So, for Vendors who are not activily participating in general forum discussions, you will not be permitted to continue to use the forum solely for free advertising. This stepped up enforcement will begin immediately.Thank you for your understanding. Comments are welcome on this issue.
jumanji
I say you sell out to the man.. force all vendors to pay advertisement fees.. allow them to place small unobtrusive sig graphics say 200 x 100... use the cash for yourself, free give away contests w/tubs of shisha, goodies...+1 for vendors+1 for users
mushrat
Ok, since you are relativly new, allow me to point out that this forum is actually paid for BY the man. Just that in this case the man generally keeps it low key so you usually don't realize it.I'll bet you won't find any advertising, besides one post with discount codes, by the people who actually shell out the cash for this place..I think the idea here is LESS comercial, not more... anathema
It is a hookah forum to discuss hookah and buying hookah at cheap prices or seeing new flavors and such is good enough to discuss. It was commercial for certain vendors who just make a post every so often and it is only about one of their sales starting soon. But if a vendor is actually participating in the entire forum, he is considered a user and he can "discuss" the upcoming sales, new items, etc.A subjective rule is really hard to uphold, but I think it's pretty easy to spot a few vendors that just advertise. Johnny_D
I fully support this move. There are certain vendors [No names, no pack drill] who i have only ever seen using the forum as an advertising board. This has to stop, it's not useful in the slightest. Whilst i understand that this is a 'subjective' ruling, it will be fairly obvious who is and who is not playing fair.JD
mushrat
Don't look at me man, I'm not associated with the company that pays for the place, I'm just another poster with a few extra tricks....I run a hookah bar and that's it.As to soem of the ealier posts in this thread. This was not posted to take pot shots at companies. This is a general anouncement. It's the concept I'm talking about, not bashing specific vendors. That comes later.... boulderkid303
All I know is MN-Hookah.com and Hookah-Life are amazing, and always post helping this forum. Not once have I PERSONALLY seen either advertising.
SafeSearchOff
i support this too. initially i thought it would be a bad thing but i realize now it makes sense. Edited September 20, 2007 by mushrat no bashing.
oggie505#2
I see this as good for most and bad for some, I do hat eit when random vendors come on saying they are having a sale and stuff. But I do like when Mya comes on and shows their new products, they do not give a price or open with goto our site to get the uber latest shisha pipes. But if the admins want vendors to be active to post, I am cool with that, just some may get pissed a discount codes could be gone, but i doubt it. The vendors should be hookah smokers themselves and therefore able to contribute as much as anyone else

mushrat
Several warning PM's have been sent out. Suspensions will begin next week to give some of the vendors time to get the messeges and hopefully increase their involvement.
