I Am A Noob.

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm new to the whole world of Hookahs, I've just got a few questions relating to it.

so, I bought my hookah, and the first time I used it, it was great, thick smoke, everything, but then the second time I used it I'm not sure what I did differently, but the smoke wasn't as thick, and it seemed like the draw was harder, although that part could be in my imagination, but for sure the smoke was not as consistantly thick as the first time.

second, I was wondering if the wind screen is a necessary thing to use when I'm smoking outside?

Third, How high should I pack the tobacco, should it be touching the screen, or slightly beneath it?

lastly, I was wondering if you guys could suggest your favorite kinds of Shisha, I like fruity stuff, but am open to suggestion to pretty much anything.

Thanks.

Welcome.
To your first question, I'd guess yu may have packed the tobacco a little too tight the second time. If its packed too tight you get less air flow through it, and the top l;ayer tends to char because the heat is just sitting there with no moving air, or less moving air, to heat up the rest of the tobacco in the bowl. Not sur eif that made sense, but basically, make you you sprinkle it into your bol, not pack it down. I tend to est my packings by sucking air in from the bollow of the bowl before i put it on the hookah. If there is restricted air flow then, its going to mess up your smoke/heat/session.

Nom you dont need any sort of wind screen outfoors, but if its breezy, thw wind blowing accross your coals can cause them to heat up, raising the temp in the bowl more than you'd like, and it makes them burn quicker. just my ,02.

ill leave some of the other questions for other foks as im about beat.

ah, well I think I figured out the problem with the smoke not being thick, one of the ball bearings fell out (it's an auto sealer) of one of the hoses, and it was leaking air.

anyway, it's surprisingly tough to find information about proper hookah smoking methods online, there seems to be a fairly big following. and lots of people that are interested in trying it. it's a relatively cheap thing to start too, I mean you can get a hookah for not much more than an okay pipe costs, plus the whole experience is much more enjoyable, to me, and anyone that joins me, it's a much more social item than a pipe.

oh, if you're wondering I have the "ice torrent" hookah from H-S, I'm pretty happy with the overall craftsmanship of it, just gotta be more careful with those stupid ball bearings.
and the customer service at HS is fantastic, I had a problem with my shipping address, and the guy I talked to was really nice and got the problem fixed right away.

the only complaint I have with the order is the fact that the case they provide is too small.
I can't fit everything inside it, and the sides buldge. though I guess you can't expect perfection from a freebie!

Well since we're on the topic on smoking hookah or just general talking. Last friday i was smoking hookah with my friends and we started with coconut, then moved on to banana split, and finally mint. Everything was fine and crappy florida weather came pouring down so we decided to pack up. I got up and felt dizzy/light headed, about 10 seconds or less went by after i stood up and i felt nauseous i ran to the bathroom and splashed water all over my face. Once i put water on my face the nauseous feeling went away and i had a feeling to take a huge poo, we went to my friends house and i decided to chill on the toilet. A few minutes went by and i felt a lot better, i got out of the bathroom 5 seconds later i'm back in throwing up mucus, and what i guess was acid from my stomach. After throwing up i had a crazy headache for 6 hours. I ate and it was all gone, i tried smoking on wednesday and i felt nauseous again after 5 minutes of smoking banana split and i threw it away. Can anyone tell me why i feel this way? I guess you can say i'm scared to smoke now and the fear of throwing up all the mucus and acid is stuck in my head. sad.gif.

you guys smoked three bowls so washed or not, thats still a fair amount of nicotine in your body. If you had not eaten recently or at all, then that would be why you were sick. notice the headache left once you ate something.

as to why you felt bad when smoking banana split again, its probably a mental thing. It reminded your body of last time, which was unpleasant so your body assumes a routine like last time. Its like when you get sick, eat, then throw up. That food suddenly isnt appealing to you anymore for awhile. I would suggest not smoking banana split for awhile. keep to something else.
