Starlight Jap-style Coals

Well the other day I went to the local shop and bought some starlight jap-style chinease knock off coals. I figured they were cheap and if they didn't work then it would at the very least be a learning experience that I can share about. I've been looking at these things for a year but kept telling myself not to buy it until recently.

Has anyone used these? They are coated in silver just like the japanese coals.

At first I hated them but last night I used them and made sure all the silver burned off and they wern't too bad. The first time I didn't burn them enough and that silver coating was leaving a HORRIBLE taste when you smoked.

I looked in the reviews section and someone mentioned them once and gave them a 9. I havn't smoked with them enough and can't say they are a 9 out of 10 but I was wondering what other people think of them??
