1st Post! 1st Hookah! 1st Problem.....

HEY GUYS! i've been poking around here a bit after hitting up hookah bars with buddies for the last year or so. I've noticed a couiple people from the NO. VA. area which is where im from currently living in Nebraska. Well i just bought a hookah off a buddy of mine here who bought it when he was on tour in iraq. its pretty nice... i prefer the modern design ones but for the price i couldn't beat it... maybe ill put pics up.

The Problem. OK so i set it up right im pretty sure and i cannot freaking inhale through this hose. I check all my lines with no clogs. I pulled the hose off and smoked straight from the hookah line and it was great! so i tried to breath through the hose unattached to anything and almost suffocated it was so hard to breath through i put it back on and sucked hard enough to turn purple and it wouldn't bubble. the tube was only about 1 inch in the water i played with the air valve and still didn't do anything. smoked right from the hookah no hose and it was great.

So im pretty sure its a bad or clogged hose and i was gonna order the... nammor? is that it? anyway just getting a second opinon.

sounds like a hose issue to me... I personally don't see fit to invest in a nammor yet... Too attatched to my KM hose

I agree...there is something iffy about the hose....

Nammor would be good. Wide Bored hose...pretty impossible to clog that sucker....and its washable...

Bah, the Mya "washables" are anything but. So many members have had theirs rust out on them, myself included. In the meantime, I'm in love with my Nammor

i've been having good luck with my mya wide washable...just make sure you dry the thing and don't let water sit in it and it won't rust...simple as that.

You Boys need to read the numerous threads about rusted MYA hoses.

Lots of people have seen mya's that rust. And MYA have *NEVER* responded to any thread here about it. Period.

Get a Nammor hose, or Mod your own. Or Both.

I agree with everyone make your own or buy a nammor.

You hos eproblem could be the leather swelled, I know a lot of the hookahs sold in the box have leather hoses and I have seen them swell up when people washed them

no, i've had multiple mya hoses, only one of which has rusted on me. The first one i ever had rusted...when i got a new one, i cut the old one open(to make a vinyl hose) and did see the rust and all that. The second one i kept dry(washed it every now and then, then dried it out with one of those tire compressors that my dad has) and when i cut it open to make another vinyl hose after getting my mya wide, there was not a bit of rust on it. if you take care of the hose and dry it out, it's not going to rust on you, except for what normally happens to hoses...maybe i'm a lucky case, but it's what i've seen...

ok well thanks guys for all of your help i think im gonna do both.... me and the girlfreind were smoking last night right out of the hookah with no tube.... so i think im gonna order one, probably the nammor because i like the washability. When i get that one ill probably mod this one that i have it could be fun.

OH PS where is the best place to buy supplies.. nammor hose and sheesha? also is soex any good? non-tobacco could be nice on occasion for the old lady. Edited September 27, 2007 by evatall

I don't see how smoking shredded sugar cane is any better than smoking Tobacco.

sounds like you need to wash the hose best way i have found is if your toilet and sink are close, is fill the sink with water then use the hose to siphon water to the toilet, by the way where at in nebraska are you if you go to lincoln on 48th st there is a small hole in the wall shop that is easy to miss but it is run by an iranian man and his wife and it is a nice shop and they KNOW what they are doing and really nice people

well i picked up a new hose a few days ago and i think i've had at least one session a day now! that was definatly the problem thanks for all your help guys!

know this might sound wierd but i had a problem similar and it was actually the holes in the bottom of the bowl were clogged with tobacco. dont know how in the hell it happened but i hit it once and all holes got clogged at the same time. i checked everything before deciding it was that. so make sure ur bowl isnt packed down too tight

Ahahaha! Every noob's mistake. I've done that before and a repack with a little more caution remedied it just fine. Perhaps a mouse got in there and died? (happened in my friend's car AC and good god that was rank)
