It's still good, although the store should have fresher stock!
Smoke the August first though of course.
Usual shelf life is two years TOTAL, but quicker after opening.
I would say consume within about 5 months after opening for any product for optimal freshness.
Roll or fold the open bag in small folds and rubber band it - but don't wrap the wrapper AROUND the bulk or the juice will leak and you have a mess!
Place that in a ziplock and suck the air out to keep it fresh. Then you can put that ziplock into the plastic container. Room temp is OK.

Sorry you got an old batch, but those are some salvaging tips.
It's not worth the drive back for exchange, odds are they don't have much fresher, just notice the date next time.

I have a question about the juice part of the sisha... kinda off topic.. If you dry the sisha off with a paper towel before you smoke, the juice has a tendency to not run down the chamber of the hookah, but if you do not dry it off any, it smokes richer, tastes better, but when it get 'hot' the juice runs down into the water chamber and then starts to taste funny. Is there a fool proof way to keep that from happening or is the dry it off method the best?

its not a great idea to dry off your tobacco.

if you want to smoke something dry and not have to worry about it going down the stem (dont understand why its a problem for you in the first place), then get Nakhla brand shisha.

OR get yourself a phunnel. Juice will never run down the stem with a phunnel.

You can moisten tobacco quite easily using glycerine and honey. I normally use about 50g's of glycerine and about 8g's of honey in 250g's of very dry tobacco.

As to the date on the box - It can be the expiry date. On Nahkla it is [the last few boxes i got were 2006 and dry and hell. And i don't mean "nahkla dry" this was DRIED OUT] But with the above mix it's moistened nicely and smoking well.

For glycerine, you can goto any pharmaceutical store and look for glycerin that is ok for consumption. Its mainly used as a laxative in the rectal form otherwise its main application is as a lubricant (not personal lubricant but just advertised as lubricant?). Enjoy smile.gif

I have observed that i can mount the porcelain throne with a little more ease after a session than I could otherwise. Well, that and nicotine/smoking in general helps to digest and whatnot. That's why I generally smoke (hookah or a cig) right after a meal (to help with digestion and to clear the palate). Edited by MechAnt

Yea, to clarify, I realize that the date on there is the production date, but I wasn't sure how long the shisha lasts. I just openned up the second box I got, being Grape AF, the other is the Eskandarini(sp?) Apple. Both are really good flavors. The grape smokes like nobodies business, gigantic thick clouds with great tasteand lasts for a rediculously long time. The apple on the other hand is Golden AF, which I assume means better. It only lasts about 30 minutes and then gets really harsh. It doesn't seem too dry though, still pretty moist. Would adding glycerin to it make it last longer/less harsh?

I wouldn't add anything to it -- it's not really necessary as the AF is moist enough on its own!
Overall I wouldn't add anything to moassel, just avoid buying brands that are dry like Nakhla.
(I will say that the strawberry jar isn't TOO bad....)
Sometimes smoke quality is unique to the ingredients involved in the flavor, and I've had some good thick grape smokes but the AF eskandrani is my favorite.

As far as moassel lasting, I get 2 years as a rule from the old Al Waha tubs and it seems to be a true rule of thumb.
They used to (do they still?) print production and expiration dates in dot matrix on the label, and they're 2 years apart.
