Omg I Have A Leak!

Recommended Posts

I was smoking my hookah in the kitchen and needed a way to get rid of the coals. I usually use the toilet, but tonight i decided to use the sink! I put my coals in the sink and ran some water so they got put out. I then realised i had one small piece left over so i just placed it down the plug hole! 20 mintues later i returned to my kitchen with a smell of burning plastic and a small amount of smoke rising out of the plug hole!!!! I imediatley emptied the cupboard underneath the sink and had a peak. I had burned a small hole through the u-tube of the plumbing!! (Baring in mind this is my parents house i started shitting it!) The hole was only small so i got a large piece of blue-tac and filled it. But my dad will realise sooner or later! So i need an excuse to say how the hole got there! Any idea?

Many thanks mapexdrumboi

To quote Colonel Oliver North :-

" I have no recollection of that "

DENY. DENY. DENY.

Either that or go and buy a new piece of downpipe from homedepot and replace it. It ain't hard normally. Most of the plastic undersink plumbing is just push-fit.

If you do that - just put some vaseline around the joints to ensure water-tightness.

the first thing that came to mind was to say i have found a hole in the plumbing so i decided to do a quick fix, but i think we need to change the part. When i get asked how it got their, i will say i dont know i just noticed some water on the floor. I have eradicated all evidence of hookah from the kitchen, including smell! so they will not know it could have been related.

" Ohh, i dunno. I noticed it was leaking while i was using the sink, so i looked under there and taped it up. I htought it would work for a while. Sorry abotu that, i forgot to tell you about it! rolleyes.gif "

That's what i'd say word for word.

Or i'd commit seppuku. Die with Honor!

I work for a new construction plumbing company. Just go to Home Depot, get a new plastic trap, collar, whatever burned along with the necessary glue, and replace the parts. It's not difficult. And the people at Home Depot will give you very good instructions. Do it at the end of the day so it sets up overnight and no one will ever know the difference.

Note to everyone...... Almost all plumbing is now being done in alternative materials. Meaning plastic of some variety. Burning things + plastic pipe = Holes/leaks and noxious fumes.

No i did look for some, nearst thing i could find was blue tac. If you americans dont know what blue tac is, its like a putty which you use to stick things together with, i use it to keep my hose airtight! So that should hold for a while.

Aww, thanks Johnny! I try to supply all options that come to mind.

That Blue stuff sounds cool. Maybe it works for carpets?

And if you are allowed to be smoking hookah, and were doing it in the kitchen, and told your parents about the 50 cent tubing, and offered to pay 1.00 to replace it, i'm sure they'd be alright.

It will, but you're going to need to replace the trap - what you're calling the U-joint. So make the jaunt to the hardware store, get the parts, wait until the parents are out to dinner or something, and do the replacement. By the time they use the sink in the morning, it's all done and set up.

Ohh yeah! I saw that post! Well then just offer to replace it. Parents dig honesty over lying. smile.gif

Yer, Zen's on the money with that.

Tell them, tell you made a temp repair and that you will get the parts, or offer to pay for them, and help your dad fit them.

I'm sure they won't through a hissy fit.

Parents are parents, they ain't stupid tongue.gif

That's why in my Hookah Box (Containing tobacco, coals, tongs, foil etc.) I always keep a roll of insulation tape.
It's good if you have a leak in the hookah and if you burn a hole in your plumbing.

So just hook it up with some insulation tape.
Then if they notice they notice.
If they don't then you can replace it. Edited by Cheese//

go to home depot and by a p-trap (basically PVC pipes for under your sink.. also look under your sink to see if it is PVC or metal.. its usually inch and a half piping there).. then fix it yourself.. it might cost a whole 6 dollars
