Ah, my friends were talking about this. It sounds awesome, but I've got a data storage compy, nothing that would be able to run this >.<

I've been watching the progress of this game for about 2 years now?

They push the release date back every three months. Its starting to piss me off.

As of right now, its the most expensive game ever developed. Last I checked, they've blown about 25 million of the game, and its not finished yet.

This game was the reason I bought a qx 6850 core 2 quad extreme chip. Its going to really need a lot of power to run it.

On a related note, the trial for the creature creator has been leaked! I was playing with it last night... it's all over piratebay, if anyone is interested.

Time to flood the universe with flying penis creatures!

Spore isn't going to require that much from your computer. They released the specs a few days ago.

And here are the system requirements for Crysis, which is possibly the most demanding game on the planet. My 5 year old server could fill these requirements with flying colors.

CPU: Intel Pentium 4 2.8 GHz (3.2 GHz for Vista), Intel Core 2.0 GHz (2.2 GHz for Vista), AMD Athlon 2800+ (3200+ for Vista) or better RAM: 1GB (1.5GB on Windows Vista) Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT, ATI Radeon 9800 Pro (Radeon X800 Pro for Vista) or better VRAM: 256MB of Graphics Memory Storage: 12GB Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c Compatible ODD: DVD-ROM OS: Microsoft Windows XP or Vista DirectX: DX9.0c or DX10

Try to play Crysis on using those specs and LMK how it works out for you.

Manufacturers always have very "oppomistic" requirements for thier games. Multiply the graphics card, ram, and CPU specs by 2 and you will run the game how it was meant to be played.

True. But I just looking at it you can tell that Spore and Crysis are on two different levels of graphic and processing capabilities. Like Age of Conan looks great on high setting but you need a pretty good computer to run it on that setting. But a basic computer can play the game fine on low setting. So, I'm thinking on the low end Spore would be much more forgiving.

I'm not so sure. I've seen some landscape shots that contain a whole bunch of rendering (including transparent & reflective water...eeek) with a ton of different characters. Even cartoony games such as Team Fortress II can cripple a vid card when the settings are turned up.

At low settings, I am sure it will play fine. Keep in mind though, that this game was delayed nearly a year when DirectX10 came out. They scrapped most of the graphics at that time in order to produce a game that could fully utilize DirectX10 and really wow people with the advanced graphics.

When you've blown 25 mil on game developement, I'm sure that you want the graphics to be top notch. if that is true, it's going to be a hardware crippler.

No. It's not multiplayer, but supposedly when you hit space level, your race gets uploaded to a server. Everybody at the space level can see and interact with those other races, but it never comes back to affect your specific race.

I'm not so sure about the power of the computer required. Maxis is known for making games that perform on mid to lower end machines even on all high settings. Crysis and Spore are a poor comparison because Crysis was pretty much graphics first, gameplay second. That was the games purpose was to be a benching game. I have the full version of the creature creator and it runs great on my computer with an old AMD dual core, NF4 Mobo, and 8600 GT. I can run TF2 on all highest settings and it never bogs down.

Trust me, your QX6850 may have been a wise purchase for a game like Crysis, but it will definitely not need the CPU's full power when running Spore. That also begs the question of what video card you are running? You will see a much larger FPS difference in increased video power than CPU power when running graphic intensive games.

Anyways, I've been looking forward to Spore for quite a while. Unfortunately I'm already bored of the Creature Creator, but the full game will be a different story entirely.

Melanko-

Yes, those are valid points.

However...

Being that Spore is the most expensive game ever produced and most of the game engine was re-written to take advantage of the performance that DirectX10 offered, I have a feeling that the actual graphics are going to outrageous...or in the very least capable of being cranked up to high settings.
