cypress
Just smoke it. If the smoke dont kill you then the bottled water will.
Soup
Honestly, if you are so woried about what is in the smoke simply don't smoke. Although, I wouldn't advise against it.

Haven't you realized that a good 30% of our threads seem to be about health risks involved with hookah? Hookah has been here forever, but is just now starting to make a comeback and become popular in most areas, so you gotta think that a lot of people just wanna know what it is and its health risks. What we should be telling him is to do a forum search on health risks.
Soup
sorry, Yash, I though that the "winky guy" would have made the point I wasn't being serious.
yashman19
Ohh..sorry to you. I completely missed the wink. But even so I didn't want it to come over as putting you down at all, and for doing so I'm sorry bro. Our forum has a pretty close atmosphere so when anyone really does put someone down, its sort of a bummer.

Dachshund12
There's a small articale about this in the recent US News and World Reports

Dachshund12
In the articale it says since hookahs use charcoal, the smoke contains arsenic and other heavy metals. I can't find a link but I could scan the articale and upload it.
John Deere
maybe if your using barbeque charcoal......
cypress
The only wood I know that contains arsenic is presure treated woods. If u look at the end of a new board they have stapled to it precautions. CCA stands for chromated copper arsonate. I guess it may be possible for the coals to have some heavy metals if the soil that the tree grew in was contaminated. Stew
or if the tree was used to post concert posters and the staples/nails were processed as well.

yashman19
So what if a hookah last a lot longer than a f**king cigg... How many fewer chemicals are in hookah than in ciggs? And that stuff about coals is bullsh*t. They probably took the worst case scenario and hyped it up. I haven't seen one article about hookah that didn't embellish something or another. You just gotta remember that all these articles for the most part are written by people who are against ANYTHING smoke related. You guys should know by now that hookah isn't safe, but I just can't stand these type of articles... Sorry, just blowing off some steam. I think I'm gunna go smoke
mushrat
Smoke 2, they're small. If you don't want to hurt your health, don't smoke. This group isn't going to rationalize it for anyone.
John Deere
Exactly!! If hookah is so much more dangerous than ciggs, then what about the old men in the middle east who spend all day every day in the lounges, and live to be 90, and healthy? brother812
JD that really isn't a good argument. smoking effects all people differently. my great grandfather smoked 2 packs of pall mall filter-less a day and drank a pint of whiskey a day and he lived to be 101. up till about 6 months before he passed away he was very active and healthy as a horse. on the other hand i had an uncle who pass away from cancer at the age of 43 caused by "smoking". Mush hit the nail on the head. their is no such thing as a healthy smoke. but their are allot of unhealthy things we all do every day. we all have to choose our own vices. what Yash said is very true. most of the stuff you read in papers and such are written by people who are against any kind of smoking. their is no such thing in this world as an impartial report. even the scientist who do these studies are getting paid by one side or the other and no matter how impartial they claim to be they are going to do their best to make the people who are putting cash in their bank account as happy as they can. the OP has a valid question my advice is if you are worried about it then choose not to do it. personally i see it this way i could walk out my door in the morning and get creamed by a beer truck and turned into a grease spot on the road and when i leave this world i will be happy in the knowledge that i tried everything i wanted to and had as much fun as i could without getting thrown in jail.. Soup
Definitly, I want to make it through life saying "Yeah, I did that, now what are you skinheads gonna do about it?" and NOT "I played it safe and did what was right and healthy for me and the bug up my @$$!" Bad way of putting things but its late and i need to get up at a reasonable hour in the morning/afternoon.
ormvegr
I have read that because the smoke out of a hookah is cooler it is actually safer. Chemicals are less carcinogenic at cooler temperatures. Because the tobacco in a hookah doesn't burn im geussing that it is even more safer still. I wonder how carcinogenic the smoke from sugar is
mushrat
chemicals are less carcinogenic at cooler temps??? Not to be a prick but where'd you read that? National Inquirer? Bad for you is bad for you.
