I've been doing it for a couple years now and I am trying to figure out if there are any types of herbs or other additives I could put in? I've been grinding up whole cloves and putting them in, which has been nice. My friend told me about putting a little bit of honey around the paper (which I guess is similiar to the molasses in shisha) but I'm skeptical on it burning correctly. ZenSilk Posted October 7, 2007 Share Posted October 7, 2007 Yeah, peppermint is soem of the best stuff to put in the cigarette.. so you don't only get the cool tingly mint, but the sweet peppermint taste. leadpipecinch21 Posted October 7, 2007 Share Posted October 7, 2007 i also roll my own cigarettes(trying to stop, they're ripping my lungs to pieces, but i just love the taste...so much better than pre-rolled smoked). I've done the honey, but i just put a little bit of honey down on the end, so you get the taste in your lips while you're smoking the cig, but it doesn't mess with the burn. i've tried it with a whole strip of honey too, it works OK if you roll it, then wait an hour or so so it sets up, and impregnates itself in to the paper more than just putting a strip on and smoking it right away.as for other herbs? i'm very interested...never thought of adding mint into my own cigs though...i might just have to get some mint at the store and try this! There are other herbs to add.. but most of them don't add taste, they just add an intoxicating/numbing/calming/euphoric effect. Some have tastes maybe. ZenSilk Posted October 8, 2007 Share Posted October 8, 2007 Ohhhhh damn,... no i didn't mean THAT herb. I mean.. Wormwood, Dagga Flower, Skullcap, Damiana...Things like that. In a Cigarette you mostly want Flavor. And there's not too many herbs or spices that mix well; some are too harsh, some are too icky, some burn at a slower rate, some have undesired effects.. That's why Clove is so great! It's smooth, aromatic, not too bold, and slightly spicy, and the taste is to DIE for. . Such things as Cinnamon will burn your throat and make you sick to your stomach; Nutmeg will give you a feeling of Euphoria, and also a gnarly headache and nausea. Honey is great, maybe add some lemon peels, a hint of chamomile (if you can find it), and something from the mint family (maybe something light as in Cardamom). There's also stuff like Lemongrass and Rasberry Leaf (I don't know if rasberry leaf adds rasberry flavor or not). And also, if you want a soothing and comfortable addition to your smoke, add Blue Lotus Flower. It's very calming, and when made into a tea it has a mild sedative effect and a gold/amber color. leadpipecinch21 Posted October 8, 2007 Share Posted October 8, 2007 i'm personally a huge fan of american spirits original blend cut with about 1/3 bugler's gold...the american spirit has a nice strong flavor, but can get kinda harsh on the throat...the bugler equals the harshness out, and adds just another little touch of different flavor...i quite like it, though everyone i know that hand rolls says bugler is pure shit, whatever.... Bali Shag is also another decent tobacco to start off with. To be honest though, Bugler by itself is pretty OK to start with...that's what i did, to get my lungs ready and also to perfect my rolling skillz, then moved on to other stuff...just try it all, even if you're not a big fan of it, try mixing it in with other tobaccos and make a good blend for yourself. I bought peppermint, and i loved it. I loooked online and found all these weird herbs, and learned a ton about them, and tried them all out. I have smoked out of one before, lucky me i know , and i love the feeling of holding that bad boy. Wow.. it's 2:22. But, if you can find one of those, snatch it up. Yess. I havn't smoked my Gandalf pipe in quite sometime, i have just been drinking lilly Tea, so i'll look for it! it might be at my parents house in the living room actually... cymptom Posted October 14, 2007 Share Posted October 14, 2007 I like Damiana, Yerba Lena Yesca (aka Aztec Gold), and Blue Lotus, mixed with tobacco (Bali Shag Light is my favorite.) Blue Lotus is definitely my favorite, but it's expensive. Peppermint and Scullcap are often added for flavor, too. A lot of these can be purchased at http://www.herb-hut.com/bulk_herbs.htm , though my last experience with them was pretty bad. I ordered a pound of damiana and they sent me an ounce, so I emailed them and they said they'd send out the pound right away.... nothing. That was well over a year ago... iamscott06 Posted October 19, 2007 Share Posted October 19, 2007 I just moved down to cinci last week and we have a smoke shop about.. .25 miles away First time down there i bought there House blend of tobacco and an ounce of some Blueberry something with a hint of vanilla yum yum its delicous. Lets see Monday night me and my buddy went down there to see what other kind of herbal stuff they had, we bought this house blend again that they have, its supposed to make your dreams crazy and stuff like that, 7 bucks for a once.. pretty expensive but so far we'v smoked a cig each for the past 4 nights right before bed and last night i could actually tell i was having a crazy dream. good times.. good times Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
