Your First Smoke

I was wondering if anyone here really remembers their first hookah session(s). Who got you into it, where, when, etc!

I first started smoking hookah my junior year in high school (Young blood, haha). My friends, moms, boyfriend worked at a car dealership in sacramento, the owners of the car dealership also owned a hookah shop/mediteranian market. He smoked hookah, and as soon as my friend saw it, he knew he had to get one. So Vince, my friends moms boyfriend, ended up getting him a MYA qt, with the dark blue base.

He brought it over to my house while my parents were asleep, because he wanted to get my friend to try it, because at the time I was basicly hardcore anti-smoking. They loaded up the bowl with Pharoahs Double Apple, Pre cut foil from one of those little boxes, and probably 3 kings quick lights. They smoked up as I sat here infront of my computer, and after a while the delicious smell got to me. I had to try it.

We ended up smoking for like an hour, and I was so excited about it! We called up some friends and went to another persons house, and smoked again there, and this continued all night long.

I don't really smoke any apple shisha any more, and whenever I do it really brings me back.

My first one was Nakhla double apple as well. One of my fraternity brothers went to Israel and brought back a hookah from there. That was probably 2003. He used to have a constant stream of people coming into his room to smoke. I remember being blown away by the taste (I love anise/licorice flavors).

Actually smoked a bowl of Nakhla 2 apple a couple nights ago -- sort of getting back to my roots. :-)

going into my freshman year of college my friend took me to a hookah bar. loved it so much three weeks later i owned my own, and had met my gf at one too...smoking nakhla cherry all the way

Well my first smoke was in 05 when I transferred to a new university. When I was touring this place I saw a lot of people smoking from hookahs around campus. I was ignorant and thought it was drugs at the time.... about 3 days after moving into campus I met this chick that took me out to a "hookah bar", an unknown place to me at the time. As soon as I took the first puff I instantly fell in love. No idea what flavor was my first smoke but I went through a few the first time. A few months later I went and bought my own 32" rotator.

Nakhla 2 apple. My wife suprised me with a hookah for Valentines day and I'd never smoked one before. Went out to the local market got 3 kings anmd nakhla came back, looked up some bad directions on the internet, (before i found thisplace), and almost died trying to smoke it.

Then i found the Forum, got good directions and been smoking ever since...

I dont know which brand of double apple my first smoke was, i am guessing al fakher due to me being in dubai. I was sat in the middle of the desert with some arabs and americans, was very relaxing. I really liked it, smoke was not harsh and really flavourfull. They did it right!!

My first was Al Amir Blackberry Apricot mix. It was really good. It was smoked out of a Mya Acrylic which I now own

Now, whenever I smoke blackberry, I make sure to keep some apricot with me.

My first time was actually just about a year ago. I went to Ball State for family weekend and met up with a friend. We were huddled outside with hoodies as parents walked by... We had grape - I don't know what brand.. but I fell in love instantly.

in august of 2006 i was in tunisia (part of my mediterranean cruise) and saw hookahs at many shops. i came home and started researching and found this forum. then i bought my first hookah from socialsmoke in october. my first smoke was havana grape and it was pretty darn good.

Hey Everyone,

My first smoke session was on my 18th birthday. First time I tried smoking anything. Anyway I remember it like it was yesterday (yes very cliché but true ). We just finished dinner at a restaurant, and headed back to Mike's house, who got his first hookah 2 weeks earlier on his 18th. There we were, a group of 15 people, sitting in the garage on a warm May night around this beautiful 32" Egyptian rotator with a green glass vase and a flower like design on it (the manly type of flower ).

Anyway, I remember setting it up with Nakhla Mixed Fruit (smelled delicious), and after a few of my buddies milked the hookah, I got my turn on it. Two seconds into the puff, and I was buzzing and coughing like I’ve never coughed before, lol.

That night I thought to myself, why the hell does anybody enjoy hookah. Well needless to say, I tried it again the next morning, and have been enjoying it every since!!!

My first time was when I was fourteen, it was romman strawberry on a two footer my friend picked up in Jaffa earlier that day. The first time was not that great because we thought the more coal the better and we just put on as many coals as we could . then when we did it with another friend who knew how I just loved it. Been doing it ever since.

In feb. of this year, my friend invited me over to try out his new hookah he just bought, I had no idea what it was, and all that stuff. But I was eger to try it.
He had a little box of Al-Waha Watermelon, and it just blew my mind.
It was about 30 degrees outside were we where smoking it, and I had one 2 coats and a kimono, yeah random...I know.

And since then, I've been trying constantly to get my hands on some juicy watermelon.

It was sometime after my 18th (I forget when), I went to a hookah bar with a bunch of my friends. I don't remember whay flavor I bought, but I know it was hookah-hookah (because I remember seeing it a few times I went back), and I got a great buzz. Although I didn't really get into hookah until this past school year. This year I have quite a good collection (I had a cheap small one last school year, but this year I have a KM ). I just nave to say its so much fun being in the hookah culture (I want to try to start my own hookah bar sometime, but I just don't know where).

My first time was like 3 weeks ago, I have no idea what brand the shisha was but it was apple and grape, it smelled fricken awesome and the flavor profiles made me sink into the chair that I was sitting it, I fell in love that night and bought my own hookah which I recieved this past tuesday.

my first time smoking the hookah was in 2005
i was smoking a pipe before that.
i had my first apartment by myself.
one night i found $40 bucks on the ground.
so i went straight to the shop and got a small hookah and orange sheeisha.
i didn't have coals so i used a lighter.
that was the best smoke i ever had!

My first was at a hookah bar in Westwood about 6 years ago. I believe I smoked watermelon. I loved it! I went back a few more times before buying my own!

What a topic.
My first hookah was in 1994.
I was at university and went to a small party at a friend of a friend's, and they had a shisha.
It was a condo where 2 brothers lived - they were American, but they spent their teen years in Riyadh
since their parents were working with the gov't under an oil company contract.
(They told me stories about beheadings in the public square -- expect to lose your head for smuggling drugs into Saudi!!)
The brothers were white and spoke perfect American english, but between eachother they spoke fluent colloquial arabic.
A shisha was in the room -- It was a nice tall one about 30 inches, with 2 hoses.
One of my friends went to the fridge and broke out what I remember now as what must have been a Nakhla apple jar.
I know it was apple cuz that's what he told me, and I remember that the Nakhla had the screw-on lids back then.
I also remember that the moassel was a sort of long cut tobacco compared to what we see today.
Awesome smoke but I didn't get the strong sense of apple. Definitely not the Al Qemah type.

First time was out of my friends antique hookah from jordan from who knows how long ago; it was earlier this year or late in 06. We smoked fumari citrus mint, and it was the shiznite. The smoke was good and it tasted really good. I've moved on to Lemon Mint by fumari and Fahkfahina, but citrus mint was hella good. Definitly what I would bring people into hookah-ing with; citrus mint rather than another flavor. I've tried double apple and don't get what the fuss is about. Maybe it's just me though.

Hookah Bar that was more of a restaurant. All their hookahs tasted the same, like crap. This is when I decided it was time to invest in my own = much much much better experience.
