nbraunstein
Ok im an idiot. I thought my hookah was leaking air for some reason so being as unforgettable as I am decided to unscrew the airvalve in the dark. Needless to say the ball came out and I cant find it. Know any places where I can get a replacement. I tried covering the hole as a temp fix but with poor results. Thanks,
Sariél
1/4" ball bearing from your local hardware store> STF, I think an airsoft BB works.
nbraunstein
perfect....ill home depot or lowes most likely. It seemed like I had a leak before I even checked the valve and lost the ball. Guess i'll have no way of checking that until I can get a ball. But they do sell them at homedepot/lowes?
nbraunstein
I also noticed that when I shake the stem around I hear a bunch of parts inside of there...is this normal?
MR Bubble
Normally you'll hear the air valve ball rattling around. If there are parts rattling and the ball isn't in there, I've found that one or both tubes inside the stem body may have come loose from their weld under the body. Usually results from a dropped hookah. MR Bubble
cypress
The 2 Egyptian ones I have do have a rattle to them even with the BB out. It could be normal. The main thing is that you are not loosing any air. There are a couple testes you can do. First plug one end of your hose with your finger and blow out the other. If you have a leak replace you hose with a Mya Saray. If your hose is good put it on the hookah. Set up the hookah like normal without the head. Then put your finger on the hole where the head goes. Blow or suck in the hose. If you have a leak replace gromets. Repeat steps untill you isolate the leak. Then when u figure that out put the head on and place you palm over the head. Blow on the hose to make sure your head grommet works too. Then after you figure out all of that yyou are set.
mushrat
Um..real quick, you have a single hose hookah? if you have a multi hose you could be hearing the rattle of an autosealer bearing in one of the other sockets.

John Deere
Mine also has a little bit of metal inside the stem that rattles, its just small peices of weld that went inside during the manufacturing process.
brother812
A air soft BB does work i am using them in both of mine. i noticed with one of my pipes the metal "bells" on the shaft are all full of sand i assume this is to add weight to it to make it more stable. if you cant find a ball bearing the air soft BB's can be found at most any sporting goods store and i have seen them at walmart for a few bucks for a hundred or so.
