Exotica Coals

Recommended Posts

Usually you can score the stick and snap it with your fingers. In teh case where a few or a box is being difficult, you can score it and set it hanging off a counter and snap an end off at the score. Its really pretty simple, I have gotten them to break into 1/8ths when I just need a little more heat. They really are pretty amazing coals.

So I just got my exoticas in today, and while I appreciate the advice on how to cut it, how much of a brick should I use for a smoke 1/3? 1/2?

i usually use half a stick and cut it into thirds. usually works well for me. sometimes its too much heat but just have to remove one piece.

I just got some exoticas last week, and found the easiest way to cut them is with a wood chisel. I take a 1" wide chisel, place it where I want the cut, and tap it with a large crescent wrench (my hammers aare in another tool box out in the car rolleyes.gif ). Perfect cut, every time, with ZERO dust and mess, and takes less than 5 seconds.

I find them a bit bulky, so I usually cut them in thirds, then split them length-wise. My new Scalli mod is too small for my small phunnel, so any top-heavy coal rolls off the sloped foil.

Lol it aint as hard to cut these coals like people think they are! geez lol

I just get a knife and cut the Exoticas and score them over the sink so the dust doesn't go everywhere. I cut them into fourths and when the cuts are deep enough, I just snap them with my hands.

BTW, make sure you use those knives with ridges so its easier to score and break
I got Exotica coals, and there are pretty big and long. It is very hard to break them into small usable chuncks with my hands. I was wondering if anybody knew of an easy way to break them.
Garden clippers, $5, work awsome..can get 1/2" coals for my pumpkin if needed.
