Exotica Coals

I got Exotica coals, and there are pretty big and long. It is very hard to break them into small usable chuncks with my hands. I was wondering if anybody knew of an easy way to break them.

Shit.. easy as pie

I use a little saw cut about a cm deep from where I want the cut to be and just break it and obviously it will break from where you cut your "slit" at.

I get my ecotica coals for the first time on tuesday so I'm not sure if this would work on them but with my other natural coals I would put them in a plastic bag and drop them on the floor and they would usually break in half (sometimes 3 pieces)

would you mind letting me know if you like the exotica coals or not. I just noticed them at hookahcompany.com and i am thinking about buying some, b/c the finger styles roll sometimes with my scallis mod (its higher than the bowl)

I have tried 3 kings, goldens, romman bulk lemon wood, natural finger style, japs a few others not even worth mentioning, but I can say that NO other coals match up against these. They put out tons of heat, last a long time, won't roll off your bowl, and they don't ash unless you ash them. What else can you ask for?

Hah, yeah, I hear ya. Mine come on monday with one of my orders... So I'll get to take a look, but finger coals that are like Nours, but actually dont have notches, like Stargates, I just use a small knife and make really small notches to break them with..
It's like breaking glass and such, make your scratch/notch and just break it.

Here is how i break mine. I take a piece of coal and lay it on a rag. Then i take a screw driver, and push down. Here are some pics.

Took me some time to figure this out. I use to bash the coal with the screw drive, and when i missed it was painful. I also didn't use the rag before and man did it hurt my hands. Edited by olooko

Wow Olooko, no offense, but that is among one of the worst idea's I have seen for breaking coals....

It's quite an uneven and horrible break.... I guess I dont understand what is so hard about taking any sort of object, like an edge of something, or a key, a knife, or anything and just making little notches so it breaks apart in clean even sections.

that idea wasnt so bad, there was very little dust...try using a key and see all the dust....not sayin his idea is teh best but its easy to clean up and it breaks sorta where he wants it

you obviously havent seen the way some people break coals....

I use them at the lounge. They seem to still have a small consistancy issue. Some of my boxes are hard as rock, others are VERY soft. I use a hack saw and notch about 4 fingers at a time for the night's supply. With the exception of the density issues there are definitly the best finger coals I've tried.
