Cheese//
Okay,I broke the bowl that came with my hookah. So I bought a new one.So I set up a seshie, having it for about 15 mins.,everything's going greatI'm watching TVthen all of a sudden I just hear a crash and the coal has burned a hole in my bed!I didn't even move the hose. This has happened before when no one was doing anything, and the bowl just falls over.I've tried insulation tape, but that just slows down the process. What can I do to make sure it'll NEVER fall off? Cheese//
I think they're the right size.It fits fine in the beginning then it just starts leaning to the side until it falls off.I'm gonna try make a custom grommet.Make it a fattie huge one. ZenSilk
Super Glue!Just kidding.. it sounds like your grommet is too thick and is slippery on the bowl stem because of the material it's made of. I reccomend getting a silicone grommet caise it sticks to the metal and the bowl.
Cheese//
Silicone, eh?My current one is kinda slippery.I'll try that.
ZenSilk
Yes, i believe hookah-shsiha has some. they sent me all silicone with my Acrylic, and 2 of the hose grommets were different thicknesses than the one that actualy fit the hoses perfectly because they were too long to fit in the hose stem wit the screw. But the bowl grommet is very flexible, easy to clean, and grips well when it's clean.
ahwahoo2006
Are you trying to put a male bowl on a male stem??If not, duct tape fixes everything.
ZenSilk
Duct tape leaves it's goo on though when too much heat is added. It's a bitch too clean off unless oyu solvent.
nicayotte
make a coal catcher with extra tinfoil around it just in case!
NarghileNights
for that problem, with really any grommet, the easiest fix is to just grab a paper towel, tear a strip or two out of it, get it a little wet, and wrap it around either both the stem and grommet or just the grommet, then shove the bowl on. that thing wont move after that. RayVer
Once you get the bowl issue figured out and in place I recommend getting the exotica rectangular coals (if your using naturals) so that they don't roll off. I've had finger coals roll off on my a ton of times with a slight move to the hookah

Scheetz
Well the bowl is just not seated right as stated before. Maybe just check it every few minutes to make sure its tight. Now I have seen coals move across the foil during a session. Happens on the QT alot, as you pull you watch the coal slide its way to the outside. It doesn't fall off but it seems to like the outside edge alot.
SafeSearchOff
perchance, the angle at which your grommet meets/is in your bowl? for example, if the topof your stem + grommet makes a sharp angle, and the bowls opening is a more relaxed angle, leaving only 1 point of contact, like so:if its precarious like hte drawing, i can see why its falling over. if its like that, try adding electrical tape to just hte top of the grommet to even it outa bit, or if its the other way around, do it the other way around,
Hookah_Bob3
I can imagine the heat is expanding your grommet, and that combined with the juices coming down making it slipper would cause for a loose bowl, then if the coal is on one side, making it lopsided, and boom, off goes the bowlso for a long-term solution, try buying new grommets. The silicone mya ones never worked well for me. I got some of the clear plastic ones from either southsmoke or socialsmoke Edited October 18, 2007 by Hookah_Bob3
shisha fan
get some silicone gommets, they seal off better than the standard rubber ones.
thejoshman
bad grommets will be death of your bowl!!i had a worn grommet on my syrian, picked the thing up tumbed, coal hit my foot, bowl hit my arm, and then fell onto the ground and shattered. burnt my arm and my shoe and broke my bowl because of the messed up grommet.!!! laxstriker52
Well if the bowl isn't working out for you why don't you take the stem to your local hookah shop and look around and try putting different bowls on it to see how the fit is. When i first got my hookah I went to smoke it and the bowl popped right off the stem and cracked, when i took it back to smoker friendly to see what the hell had happened the owner let me pick another one that actually fit the stem. Cheese//
I took off my current grommet. Then I hooked up some trial and error with a homemade insulation tape, applied some "downward force"andno problems so far.
