Mya Saray "washable" Hose

Recommended Posts

i am, in no way, trying to bash mya saray here. i am a proud owner of a qt and i love it dearly.
i am, however, concerned with the health risks that may be involved when people are using a rusty hose that they believe is washable.

i have a blue mya hose that i got last year with my egyptian hookah which i retired for about a month. it was the hose that i retired.
today i decided to take it apart and convert it in to one of those modded hoses that i see many people doing here on the forum.
i took the hose out to my garage and grabbed my saw. i was just about to start cutting when i decided to take a final look at the assembly of the hose and realized that it is only held together with hot glue. i pulled the hose right off one of the ends.

here is a pic...

you can see some of the rust from within the hose has got on to the steel connecting piece on the wooden end.

it was hard to get a pic inside the hose but this is the best i could do since i dont have a macro lens for my camera.

i havent finished modifying my hose yet cuz i gotta go to home depot tomorrow to buy the tubing.

Boulder, this is what I tell myself all the time. If you were running for president, Id vote for you based solely on that statement biggrin.gif

It\'s so funny how so many people out there think so highly of MYA. Sure 3 out of 2387592847 models meet the minimum requirements of nice. Even then, they are way way too over priced. Like boulder said, pure crap if you ask me.

I would have to completly disagree with you guys. I too thought mya's were overrated and over expensive until I got one. It was my fourth hookah and worth every penny. As far as hoses, they are not the best but all the other hoses I've had that came with a hookah were crap compared to the Mya hoses. Sure a nammor and some others is much better but what hookah comes with a nammor.

Well it depends raver. Last time I checked you have the Gyro right? Thats a damn nice pipe. But the OVERALL look, price, and quality of mya's are DEFF over rated. I myself like some of there hookahs.
Im even thinking of getting the vortex. But I know better than to spend my money on 90% of the products they offer.

well I cant speak for the 'overall' look, price, quality of ALL mya's but I can speak for the Gyro and it is a remarkable hookah.
Look: amazing
Price: a little high but you get what you pay for
Quality: this thing looks like it will last forever

After owning my hand made egyptian I quickly became aware of the flaws it had. I've been smoking the Gyro every day, sometimes multiple times per day since I got it 2 weeks ago and I couldn't be happier. As for the price, sure its high but I paid $130 for my egyptian and all I got was a hookah and a hose. For $190 I got a piece of art that smokes 10x better, a beutiful glass vase (the color does not come off), 3 beutiful hoses that so far outperform what I had before, a hard locking case and extras like mya sword tongs and an airtight container. I couldn't be happier. The more I use it the more the product justifies the price Edited by RayVer

I agree with all of what you just said. My best friend has the gyro and I love it.
But you can't tell me thats a better pipe than The KM HAFA. I own 2 KM's and love them to death. They are IMO the best hookahs on the market.

So you're saying that because (in your opinion), KM makes a better pipe than MYA, MYA is "overrated crap?"

Hmm...

Ahh,

This again.

Each time MYA posted another thread of 'look at our latest line' I would allways ask them to clear up the washable hose issues. They never bothered. So I'm not upset they are no longer part of the forum.

I personally think they should have the ass sued off them. Claiming something as washable when it's not is not just unfunny, but down right dangerous.

Either make your own hose, or get a Nammor hose [1]

JD

[1] - Of course, how do we *know* these are washable either?

Sometimes I have to keep reminding myself that Mya is a Chinese company... at least the hoses aren't lined with lead... ack.

hey if they were made out of lead they wouldn't rust, but that brings in a whole bunch of other problems.

The only way to know that a hose if washable and won't rust is to make it youself.

Not really......did you not read what I said? I like some Mya's....QT, vortex, gyro. But in no way is the company better than KM. KM stands for quality and not looking just to make bucks off cheap crap. Edited by boulderkid303

That is a valid point JD

Anyone willing to destroy a $25 hose to see if its washable?

As for the mya statements I will say I bought a MYA Vortex for $140 and sold it the next day for $125 my other hookah was better

I do not know why people diss mya. I love my mya's, but I also love a nice Egyptian hookah. I feel that each has their own faults none greater than the other. Its all personal preference, thats what makes hookah great everybody has their own hookah they love and we are not all smoking out of the same brand and style.

MYA's are lovely for sure - and I've smoked from yours so I at least have seen one lol wink.gif

However my only beef with MYA is over the hoses and the complete ignorance of the issues. Even when posted and emailed the questions. Many times!

It's quite frustrating.

Ah, it's true. I once had nothing against MYA, but I spent $40 on 2 long-handled hoses and after like 2 months they rusted out on me. If I had a steady income back then it wouldn't have bothered me, but I spent that much on what I assumed was quality. That and hearing case after case of bases breaking has turned me against the company for good.

Hooray, Boulder biggrin.gif

this is true that it does happen...but the same happens to other hoses of similar cost. Everyone here is talking about how they like KM over Mya but I don't hear any of them talking about washing their KM hoses. It all depends how you take care of things... I Havn't washed out one of my Mya hoses that I've had for a year, just blow it out and store it away when I'm done and it's as good as the day I got it.

Yeah, but KM never claimed that their hoses were ever washable. I think those of us that have washed our MYAs did so under the impression that they were indeed washable and that no harm would come of it.
