Jarvis
My birthday present finally arrived She is a Mya Gyro...I have a bunch of pics of our first smoke, but I can't find the damn camera...So I will omit them for now...Anyways, first experience was very ....special.We were unsure about the water level, but we got it about 1 inch above the bottom of the stem.We packed it with some apple (Al Waha was what we ordered with the Hookah). All we had to make holes in the foil was the poker for the coal, so our holes were kind of big. Then the foil broke, so we used the crappy foil sustitute thing...which got too hot and completely burnt some of the top of the shisha..So, the first few pulls were disgusting and harsh >.<The flavor evened out and was pretty good, but there was almost NO SMOKE!? We tried experimenting with water levels, coal placement...but no change. (We were using golden quick lites btw)Later that evening I did another attempt without any help. Some Ramman Orange and Mint (the Ramman came free with the hookah...) and used a tiny pin to make the holes... Everything went much smoother this time, but still hardly any smoke! I mean...there was smoke, but nothing like the thick billowy stuff I am used to. Very thin. I may have had one or two pulls where the smoke was decent...but the rest was The others smoking also had very little smoke (it wasn't just me weak pulls )So, wise hookah masters, what have I done wrong? RayVer
Jarvis when I got back from school Ill take pics of my setup. I have a 3 hose gyro. Edited October 23, 2007 by RayVer
RayVer
oh yeah I forgot.. I didn't even smoke the sisha that came with the hookah. Did you get those little sampler packs from hookah-shisha? from my experience so far sample packs seem to suck.Did you try smoking it with some stuff from a 250g tub? Jarvis
Awesome! Yeah, we used the samples...don't have and tubs yet.Could that be the source of the smoke problem? The flavors seem alright.
RayVer
a long time ago my friend ordered another hookah from H-S and we had the same issue...strong flavor - little smoke. We only smoked 1 bowl and threw the rest out but we didnt think much of it because he ordered some 250g of Al Fahker along with the order. MechAnt
There might be a leak somewhere. Set up the hookah and instead of the bowl on top, put your hand over the opening and inhale with the hose. You should feel a vacuum as strong as your inhale. If it feels weak or nonexistent, then there's a leak. The tobacco might be old as well.
Gaara
Add a coal.
thejoshman
make sure everything is on right and then check for leaks like what mechant said, and then add a coal like gaara said and when you put the coal on, press down on it like if you where cooking some ham bergers, get that sizzle. and if youre outside, make sure theres a wind cover or some sort. also! ive been having LOADS of trouble with my golden coals as of resent. sometimes the dont lite all the way. so make sure youre coals are getting hot. look for the bright red spots on the coal, and areas that dont have spots, add some fire to it, but putting your lighter to it. and quick lites dont need torches, i get better results by using a simple cigarette lighter. Make sure all the packaging is off and out too. GOOD LUCK MAAN!!

Yeah, we have been using a little lighter...some of them were a bit slower than others, but a siple blow on them helped them light right up.QUOTE (ASUSEAN1 @ Oct 23 2007, 03:49 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>tht is a badass hookah! usually you either A)need to add another coal or B)pack it a little but higher with the one coal to get more smoke. Heat management is key.. you don;t want to burn it. Also, stay away from the metal screen.. foil is the way to go.Thankyou! I love it like my child! ;pUpdates and pics coming soon

guyt
Add coals, and use that free windcover they give you. It makes a noticeable difference.

Bushbr
I got a hookah from H-S a 2 hose Pharoah, I also got the sample packs of Romman, and i smoked em last night, wasn't bad. true the smoke was not as thick, but it wasn't bad. I also got some Pharoah kiwi-strawbery for 12$ in a plastic tub, that stuff is amazing. I'm relativly new to this, but if your getting little smoke and a harsh taste, you may not have your holes covered on yur foil, or you need to add more coal. I heard of this one style of getting a coal and cutting it into 4ths and placing them in the corners of the bowl, and then placing a 2nd in the middle, but not on the foil, but so it's resting on the other coals, don't know how exactly it works, but it sounds like it would smoke the shisha more evenly, but once again I could be wrong. Jarvis
Yay! All the tips worked great. I set up last night and checked for leaks and used more coals....perfection! The whole collection so far...Bottom detailing...with a little smoke I have more pics, but I don't have them uploaded yet...I'll add them after work
Bushbr
thats a really sexy hookah!you should deffiently try the kiwi-strawbery. then wat i do, is add some sparkling NA wine to the base *I'm only 18 so thats why it's NA* and that kiks up the flavor, only be wary the carbonation may make it bubble up alot. also what I did, si throw a handful of jolly ranchers into your water. makes for a really sweet fruity taste
$w!ft
RayVer can you show us come pics of how you lay down the tobacco/coals on your Gyro?Cheers.
Zildjian
hell next time i do mine i can show you. theres nothing different about the gyro than any other hookah. i use a small funnel, mod, sprinkle, a 40mm coal cut in half on opposite sides.
