My Latest Order...

Recommended Posts

So---
My latest order, a JandR Gold Syrian just came in, here's the skinny. The fatty ill post when i can smoke it under mroe desirable conditions.

The hookah is advertised as 29" tall i believe, and it looks it, as youll see in the pictures. the ruler i used for scale is an 18" ruler, so don't get confuzzed there. uhh its pretty nice and heavy, youll notice the brass downstem, have yet to assess if the core is brass as advertised, but its heavier than a stainless steel hookah of the same size so i'm assuming it's a valid claim. there are alot of pieces to the stem - the downstem, the heart, 3 midsection pieces, and then the ashtray gets put under another small screw-on piece.  its pretty straightforward to put together, and is reasonably fast and easy. a little bummed that the purge valve didnt have a ball bearing in it, but i can just pick up one from the hardware store easy enough. the genie base is real nice-lookin, but i am slightly disappointed in how much it narrows down on the bottom giving contact to the floor, not very surface-areay, but its still stable.

oh and for the AF hookah pics - was to lazy to take em today. i'll get em sometime this week, along with the coal ligthing technique pics.

withouth further ado, here they are:
(oh, and sorry about the blur on the first few, i wasn't intelligent enough to whip out hte macro lense till after those)

...that is one of the nicest hookahs I have ever seen. Other member was right, the lighting gives it a sexier appeal than what is shown on the site. My purchase from J & R is coming within this week for a syrian from them! Please keep us updated on how it smokes.

...I cant stop looking at the pics. That is a purge valve, i think he meant it, as in, the bb was missing, so he had to magyver it.

Beautiful vase there, i have a question though. Do you have to screw your stem every time you want to smoke? O_O. Looks kind of annoying, and for me setting up my mya qt can be a hassle because of the preperation. Anyways more people should post pictures of their hookah when they're introducing it. smile.gif

first off - by no purge valve i mean there was no ball bearing in the chamber

you don't have to unscrew it every time, its just a feature. for example, i'll probably break it down every time so its easily transportable and doesnt take up alot of space. but if you dont want to unscrew it, you dont have to. makes cleaning easier too

Ohh yeah, Husky, i love it, it came on time, it looks AMAZING, and i'll smoke it today. smile.gif
It's huge, and super sturdy, the base grommet fits perfectly, and my nammors go right into the provided grommets with ease and hold. Hehe, my downstem isnt gold-colored like Safe's is, i hope it's white brass? tongue.gif

I smoked mine today. The pull is tighter, but in a good way. The entry holes to the hose ports are smaller than on my mya and KM, but it means you don't need to pull as hard to get the same amount of smoke. smile.gif . When i do my review i'll include every little detail.

WOW, beautiful! I got mine in today too. The base is the same exact design, only blue in color. That's gorgeous. Congratulations!

Mush, I believe Zen had his dropped shipped BY J & R, but he purchased it from Pirate. J & R, i believe, are the only ones in the states that carry these Syrians. I doubt anyone else will ever get their hands on these besides them wink.gif

I see....so Pirate and J&R are affiliated? Else why not just order the hookah direct from J&R.

And how are you aware of these facts? For a new guy you seem to have picked up a lot of know how in a real short period of time, If you don't mind me askin? unsure.gif

Lol, communication Mush, communication. I have been contemplating getting a Syrian for almost 4 weeks. I basically talked to the guys at J & R back and forth through emails the entire time, asking tons of questions. One of them being, where does piratehookahs get their Syrians from? Response: \"We drop ship for them for now.\" I know that Zen purchased his from Pirates because he said it, lol. So it was safe to assume that J & R drop shipped Zens Syrian based on what I was told...which turns out...to be factual. I believe the reason Zen purchased through Pirates is because they were having a \"Free Shipping\" deal going on. This seems to be the only reason so far, so I\'ll stick with it.

Yes, I am a spy, but shhhhhhh. THEY\'RE watching! biggrin.gif
