indy
Its very strange how KM has got such a devoted fan base in this forum even though IMO they aren't necesarially top dog in every respect. Yes a solid egyptian offers a good session if you know what you are doing, but still a novice with a KM isn't guaranteed a good session. Mya's are fine, some are crap, some a great. Plus their parts are interchangable for the most part so you can have a selection of bases, stem, bowls, hozes, etc. for plenty of variety. You can get extra ports for the hoses and convert your 1 hose into a 4 hose during a party. So, in the end which manufacturer is "the best" is completely subjective. In my book, any hookah that can be broken down and stored in a 10" x 16" box is a keeper.... that is as long as it is airtight which my MYA acrylic is. ZenSilk
KM's draw very easy though, easier than my Mya Acrylic. It's because the hole in the heart that leads the smoke from the base to the hose is wider than on normal egyptians, and you get a super easy pull. People like easy pulls. Makes a session care-free. And if you do notice a difference, is it enough to have an increadibly large fan base on this site just because of that?
ZenSilk
Ohh, no way, see, a Mya is a common chamber hookah, so all the smoke just goes into the hollow heart and everyone pulls from that chamber. Which works perfectly fine. I get clouds every friday and saturday. The KM has 2 holes, one leading to the purge valve, one leading to the hose. So actually, i think the point is the Purge Valve. The purge on the Mya doesn't work too well, but on the KM it works perfectly. But not everyone always uses a purge valve. KM's are great, easy draw. Mya's are great, also an easy draw. You would have to measure in decimal points like .000056758 to actually get the difference in smoke density But now, my Syrian has 4 holes that lead into a common chamber. This actually acts as a built in semi-diffuser in a way. The draw is tighter, noticeably, but your smoke is richer, your flavor is a little better, the smoke doesn't dissipate at the normal rate, and you virtually get a little bit more smoke (or the same amount) as a KM because you can draw for a longer amount of time as the smoke is being diffused. indy
Hmm, I'm confused. So do you agree with the huge KM following or not?Explain the two hole KM deal again, I don't quite grasp what you are describing.
ZenSilk
Hehe, ok. I htink KM's are on top of the Egyptian hookah circuit, with Madgy Zidans and alot of HC's offerings. They are sturdy, well built, constructed of safe materials, and they have the "KM" brand name to back them up as well. I do think KM's live up to their hype. They are great rigs. But Mya's get bashed on a bit too much, although made in China, they too have the possibility to be great rigs, but BECAUSE they are made in China, they don;t get hyped, and alot more people would prefer a traditional Syrian or Egyptian to a Newcomer Mya. But my Mya smokes as well as my KM, and it always has 4 or more people ripping on it. A KM has two hole in the bottom of it's heart. One leads to the hose, it is oversized, one leads to the purge valve. it is normal sized.

That is one thing that I have noticed with Mya's. You purge but you really only clear your hose and about 1/4 of the smoke in the chamber. Doesn't really bother me that much because when I sit down to smoke, I sit down to SMOKE. So purging isn't really something that I need to do that often. ZenSilk
Yeah i don't purge often either, but i don't usually burn my shisha, and we always sit through a whole bowl without stopping.

bipartitegraph
You can pry my QT from my cold dead hands. They smoke wonderfully, nearly un-knock-over-able, and don't have the awkwardness of a larger hookah. They smoke as easily as anything else (especially if you're using a wider hose), and most of all they're durable. Some of them get smoked three times a night with full washes in between, and aside from one getting shattered a few weeks ago, all are still going like champs. aethiolas
This is not making my decision any easier...this is killing me. That KM tangerine is gorgeous and I want an easy pull however the ease of having a small pipe to clean would be great(my apartment is tiny and the sink is even smaller...).
