Dekon
While on the mini fridge topic. I've came up with the following things.. Mind you it's not the best "drawing" but hey it'll do. Edited October 25, 2007 by Dekon
Bushbr
thats fricken brilliant.I so gotta do that, except there should be away to close it when your not using your hookah, maybe a sliding door on the top or something
Dekon
This would require serious modding, and it might destroy your base because of the freezing tempurature. Now creating a hose would have to be attached to something that could "roll" in and out something like this :

GolovA
QUOTE (camelflage @ Oct 25 2007, 12:26 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>i was actually talking to spoon about something like this last night. a way to cool the smoke even further in the hose. micro-tubing in the hose would definitely work, but i am wondering about two things:1. what method would be used to circulate the cold water?2. what kind of weight increase are we talking about in the hose?super small diameter hose wouldnt allow for much liquid weight, but you would also run the risk of freezing up and blocking the line if you were able to get the water really cold. maybe just micro-tubing that has water in it that you toss in the freezer and freeze like one of those cooler packs. wouldnt have the advantage of a maintained cooling like a circulator, but would be cooling at least for the first while. You are forgetting that we are making a one hellava expensive hookah. So, the hose will be levitated by employing a conducting coil (inductor) around the hose and using a magnetic cushion! And the circulation – well that’s easy – just use a circulator pump with an engine that runs toy-cars =]
GolovA
QUOTE (dude3516 @ Oct 25 2007, 01:59 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>what about a hose insert?? Long flexible rod with a T shape at the end...just stick it in the freezer, take the tip off your hose and run it through there, and use a salene solution that won't freeze but will reach freezing temps.....boom shakalaka ya'llNo! Just make two holes in the freezer and cut your hose in half. Stick one piece on one side, and the other on the other side. Now, the smoke passes directly into the freezer, and you get it in the form of flavored crystalized snow flakes! How's that?! =]
lemmiwinks
Well if you're going to be this ridiculous why not just have a metal base that is hollowed out like a tank and fill it up with CO2 or some other gas to keep it really cold?... Then if it started to warm up you could just discharge the CO2 and refill the base.
Dekon
Inhaling CO2? The glass would probably shatter if you have a cheap base. Am i missing something?
Ehorizon
Or you could try something like this....homebrewers use them to cool hot wort (the beer before fermentation) as quick as possible.Just hook up the hose fittings to a faucet and run cold water through it....course it is pretty heavy. Am i missing something?Yeah, man. "metal base that is hollowed out like a tank," guess I could have been more specific about where the CO2 goes, I meant the sides were hollowed out so it's like a CO2 tank shaped like a base so you don't inhale it. nofrendo
You have to think about the fact that because of the cooling, stuff would be deposited on the interior of the hose.

Dekon
How about making a ice sleeve out of plastic? Put water inside the plastic sleeve, put it in the freezer and slide it over your hose after it's in solid form.

Plus, when the vapor condensates and freezes it solidifies; the hose becomes very fragile, and can shatter at mishandling.

GolovA
You guys! this was supposed to be a funny generation of ideas; but we come up with some nice thing. Even though very expensive, liquid cooling is a headache (though a nice idea in theory). However, and i say this without any flattery, you have come up with a very sweet counterpart - Using a mini-fridge with the vase inside to cool the smoke down! Now that is really Sweet! =]
