Steviethepope
Romman "Lemon Wood" Charcoals I bought some of these from hookah-shisha and thus far I am not satisfied. I understand that these types of coal's take longer to light then the quick lights, but thus far except for the 2nd one that I used, I have put one of these things on my gas grill for 20 minutes and it still does not light completely.I have reverted for the time being back to the quick lights I had lef over because with these I can just sit back and smoke. Most of the time thus far using the Romman ones, I would have to stand up inbetween each puff and pick up the coal with my tongs and blow on it to get it good and hot again. Is there something wrong here? Do these things just not light?
Steviethepope
Clarification: Once I my gass grill they light within 7-10 minutes on both ends, but the middle never seems to light.
Molson
hmmm im still new so this may sound stupid but could u cut it in half and light it? maybe that would help
cypress
Sometime the problem with lemmonwood is that you will get some that are petrified and will not light. If you must use natural use Nour if not usequick lights like 3 kings or Goldens. Contrary to what I have said in the past and Mathazar will say 3 kings are safe to use. I was actually going to do a write up on that shortly.
wyteboy
with nour, it's sort of the same thing...sometimes you have to blow in the middle of the coal to get the last bit of black stuff burned off. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE NOUR COAL, they are awesome! they ash a lot which is a little annoying especially if you use a screen cause the ash falls in, but if you're careful enough, you can just hit the coal against the tray and all the ash falls there instead of into the bowl. If not nour, then I also say use 3kings.
malignity
I use Three Kings, and have been completely satisfied. Every other charcoal i've tried hasn't met my expectations like these have.
MR Bubble
I thought the Romman lemon woods were good. I don't think the middle are intended to light also, until the outter portion burns down. Question: Are the coals close enough to the fire? I place them on the electric burner of the stove and after they get red, they catch on fire and make a smooth flame. I let the flame burn for a minute and blow on them. Then you can see just how hot they really are. The drawback to these (for me) are how inefficient they are. What I mean is that out of a whole bag of them, only a certain percentage gets used. That's because after I try and break them up into usable chunks, so many of them crumble into small pieces that are unusable. Plus, I have trouble having two good smokes in a row because of heat management. I can never have the coals the same size or shape twice = different temps. The best ones out there (most economical) are the olive wood ones thehookah.com used to sell. But, unfortunately, I cannot use (like the Nours) because of the stuff inside them messes me up too bad. It goes beyond just weird. I get the most massive buzz followed by a supercharged heartbeat and astonomical blood pressure readings. Two bowls with these coals in one night equals a guaranteed migraine the next morning. You guys are so lucky to not have these effect you. If I could, I'd use nothing but the Nour fingers or Bilal olive woods. Damn, I talked a lot. Sorry. Cheers, MR Bubble
