GolovA
QUOTE (Dekon @ Oct 31 2007, 07:59 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>QUOTE (GolovA @ Oct 31 2007, 09:31 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>ok... lame pictures as well - i am sorry. it's not even the light - try pressing the button not fully and let the camera focus before fully depressing it. All of the pictures i have seen are out of focus, and limited aperture - which has nothing to do with amount of MegaPixels. You guys are hilarious - it's like you don't really want outsiders to know what you are taking pictures of; but the insiders will know for sure; and while the outsiders are like:"Whatta hell is that thing? And what are those worms doing in the bowl?"The insiders will be like:"A-a-a-ah. Yes, yes, yes! I see! So the thingi-majiga needs to be connected through a parallel hoser-shmoser, and them routed under the cooler to get you the effect of electromagnetic gravitational levitation simulating abnormality! I see..." Don't tell me how to use a camera. It's fucking easy, point hold the button down half-way, wait untill it focuses and click. If outsiders don't know what the fuck they're looking at then maybe they should just research before they get into a hobby. You don't go blindly into a hobby such as hookah without knowing the basics. Obviously in my pictures you can clearly see everything, those tiny boxes contain the shisha (which is romman btw), a stem with hose ports and a bowl grommet at the top, the base where what ever liquid you want to put in there goes, hoses, a wind screen. Just basic shit that in my opinion everyone should know before taking a huge plunge into the hobby called hookah. I'm pretty sure you're not trying to be mean but just criticize on my the pictures you think are proffessional. I take pictures cause i want to, not cause i have too. I want to show this community my purchases to share the experience. Also just because i have a camera doesn't mean i'm a professional photographer. If you have a high mega-pixel camera it's easier to see what's what and shows more texture. Edit : Since i'm on a mega fucking rant, where the fuck are your pictures "Mr. I take amazing pictures cause i'm a fucking badass"?Wow! Dude! Take a pill. Relax. The picture sucks - it's a fact.I don't have pictures; neither did i say i can take pictures. This topic was supposed to be a fun a joyfull discussions of why Hookah Forum members can't take good pictures. If you have a personal issue or a complicated early childhood, Dekon, you'll find an outlet for your repressed agressiveness every where you want - even in a circus. So don't blame me for this post being tainted by your insults. I haven't even said a bad word to you.About being a badass - i have no idea what you are talking about; but given your skill in insults, i better keep pondering on that, for it seems there is a point in every word you say. SafeSearchOff
mushie will roll over in his middle age when i do this.. (sorry mush, but i don't skip out on opportunities to poke fun)+1 to tati and camel.while we're pretty laid back here, and i'll admit, probably 90% of my posts actually contain about 10% useful information, 90% random garbage i feel like typing, it seems like your sole purpose here is to antagonize people, golovA. you post a solid 5 or 6 topics a day, usually about, well, nothing, and then proceed to tear people up, not cool.as for my opinion on the matter - the pictures seen of hookahs on this forum are shitty not because the photographers tend to be shitty, but because what apperture setting, exposure time, and dramatic lighting you use does not affect what is in teh picture at all. the pictures are there to show what a hookah is like, not what we want it to look like using our own artistic interpretation.and a shameless plug... - my devart: http://counter-feit.deviantart.com/ahvent uploaded anything in oh... about a year. gotta get on that. and no, i'm no pro, i just mess around with my camera and have fun. Stealth
It's true, this isnt a photographers forum, as long as the picture can support what a persons trying to say with its information thats the point. I'd rather have a bunch of shitty pictures taken with a cell phone than a person talking about how great there hookah looks with absolutly no image. That being said one thing that really bugs me is these pictures that are being shown to us on there side. What is the point of this? You dont even have to open up a program to fix this, just rotate it in windows explorer, you go there anyway to preview it no? While I dont care how crappy the picture is, if you can make it 10x easier to look at or understand with almost no added effort, why wouldent you do this? EvansLight
i feel no shame in pluggin myself i think im a decent photographer, just got a feature over at SheezyArt... but then again getting a feature at SA for photography is like getting a prize for being the best virgin at a porn convention. Not exactly a huge selection to choose from XDhttp://orionleingod.sheezyart.com/

chinamon
ladies and gents,a camera's "megapickles" is mostly used as a marketing gimmick for the consumer. just because my camera can take 3888x2592 (10 MP) doesnt mean that i will ever use that much. i upload my shots to clubplanet.com at 1800x1200 but they resize to some ridiculously small size. the clubs that i work for want them 517x367 and tranceaddict.com i use 480x320. for the average person, a 2MP camera is more than enough to print good quality 4x6" or even 5x7" photos. for the past year and a half that ive been shooting with a DSLR i have not printed a single shot. lol.dont fall for the whole "this camera has more megapixels than that one so that makes this one better" bullshit. what really matters is quality of CMOS sensor, lens quality and whether you need a fast lens or not (f/2.8 or lower).as for many hookah pics looking like crap on the forum, it looks like the camera is metering wrong. when you have your hookah in front of a bright computer monitor, chances are your camera is metering (or focusing) for something on the screen rather than the subject itself because the screen is brighter. another problem that i see people doing is using the autofocus totally wrong. every lens has a minimum focusing distance. some may be 1foot while others may be 18" or 22" (depends on the lens). if you are too close to your subject and the lens will not focus, do not pull the camera back and focus then put the camera closer to the subject to take the shot. if your subject is focused at 18" away from the camera then you put the camera 12" away from the subject to snap the pic, it will be way out of focus.ps. even i dont give a shit about how my pics turn out when im taking pics of my packages for the review thread.
