it`s a standard egyptian claw bowl. the waves in the sides of the bowl don`t have a function, it is either ornamental or just a production flaw.

Hmm, tomorrow I am going to an arabian store near by....to stock up on Al Fakher tongue.gif, think I should pick up a bowl?

this bowl will probably work, but yes i would advice to buy another one. it`s always nice to have a spare bowl in case you drop this one and you`re just about to smoke some delicious al fakher.

Alright, I will see what this guy has in stock when I go there tomorrow. So, I take it that the bowl is a great factor in how your Hookah hits?

No, the waves are intentional. I believe they are intended for smoking without foil or screen, just naked tobacco with charcoal on top.

i stand corrected. i guess you learn something new everyday when it comes to hookah smoking.

I learn something new almost everyday on here!

you know when I first looked at it what came to my mind is that you can put the foil on top of it and have it go along the curves so that it would be perfect to drop a finger coal going across it so that it wouldn't roll off

So basically it is intended for the coal to be on the tobacco not foil?

i think they smoke tombeik tobacco in your country that way. tombeik is really dry and fine stuff that you should
mix up with honey to get it to smoke properly. personally i think it is better to use foil on normal hookah tobacco.
