Pyh Experience

Recommended Posts

I know there's been some board drama regarding PYH, apparently some claims of shady business practices etc. I'm not completely sure what happened or why there was a fall out, but the experience I'm having with them right now compelled me to post...

I ordered 6 100g tins of various SB flavors (stuff you can't find on other sites) and some extra coals about 2 weeks ago. Order was confirmed etc, a few days went by w/ no shipping info so I called them up to see what the deal was. Apparently the coals I ordered were coming in the next day, so they planned to send it out that day, but they offered to send the shisha out before the coals and to give me a couple freebies for the trouble. I said it was fine, just send everything together, it'd be no problem. Another few days went by, still nothing, left a message and didn't hear much. Monday rolls around and I get a call from Bilal (Billy?) who apparently runs the site, he said he left the order for his business partner to fill while he was out of town over the weekend and apparently his partner didn't send it out. I was about to get mad, but before I could he started apologizing and offered me all kinds of free stuff. In the end for the trouble and having to wait about a week for the order to ship, Billy's giving me a free KM Fifa Hookah ($89.99), some extra coal, and a bunch of samples of Starbuzz including some new flavors that apparently just came out a day ago (one's described as a mix of blueberry and 15 other flavors).

So, in the end, for having to wait a week for my shisha and coals, I'm getting everything I ordered (about $60 worth) plus a free hookah, free coals, and a bunch of free starbuzz. Needless to say I'm pretty blown away by how well Bilal's taking care of me for the trouble I had. So, at least in my book, PYH isn't all that bad...

Thats insane and no way to run a business. So it's ok to provide crappy service as long as you buy off the person with more stuff than they ordered. And you think a legit business can STAY in business doing that?
I mean, If i make a mistake here at the lounge, I'll make good on it up to giving them their smoke for free, but that would be like me giving them a QT and some shisha and coals for making a mistake on an $8 smoke session.

Nothing personal, but it's interesting to see what price some people can be bought off for.. blink.gif Edited by mushrat

"Bought off" seems pretty personal...
In fact I think you're using the phrase incorrectly. Had I been pissed and threatening him with something, or demanding something, like legal action or a complete refund then yes bought off is the correct term. But all I did was call to check the status and he offered all this stuff before I could say anything huh.gif

I was never actually pissed off, I'm a pretty patient person. Even if I had been pissed off, I would have been fine with something like expedited shipping to make up for it (does that make me cheap?) Edited by Fantomas

It wasn't anything personal, please understand. It's just that when a company (and I use the term loosely) goes to such extremes, and people think it's ok in place of decent service it sets an unreasonable expectation in people's minds in what thy can expect when there is a problem with ANY vendor. I understand from the consumer stand point FREE seems like a good thing, but think about what the prices would be like for instance if a company didn't give away more than was ordered originally.

Just my thoughts as the owner of a business.

so shall we all start ordering from PYH and hope he messes up one of our orders? haha

mushy: this is probably exactly what he wanted by this mistake.. its just free advertisement basically. PYH probably knew he was a forum member and gave him a bunch of goodies.

Eh, that's pushing it. I'm hardly a prominent forum member and the info on here (e-mail addy, etc) isn't the same as I used with him. I did feel compelled to share the experience, and as you'll see by the title, I'm not necessarily sure what he did is a good thing. Obviously it's good for me as a consumer, but I can see mushrat's point as a business. I wouldn't start ordering like crazy from PYH in hopes of getting free hookahs by any means...I honeslty think he did it because he pretty much guaranteed me the first time we spoke (when I found out he was waiting for the coals) that he would send it out the next day, and then it took another 4-5 days. As a business owner I'd feel pretty shitty about that too.

Well, a free fucking KM.... Who cares how much he's trying to buy you, that's a pretty sweet thing to get free... i wouldn't care how i got that free....
He was in Las vegas though, so it was his Business partners fault i think. His partner probably doesnt do shit, so he's wasn't used to doing shit. smile.gif

That is some un-cool business though.. Edited by ZenSilk

oh btw, it may be an 89.99 value to you but you do realize he is getting these hookahs for 5-15 dollars straight from the middle east so it probably not that bad of business ethics as mush thinks

i had a less than perfect experience with them and i was also "promised stuff". lets just say i shop elsewhere now

UPS lists the shipping weight of my package as 18.00 pounds. That's a lot for 6 tins of shisha and some charcoal!

im not doubting you, i was just sharing my experience with them. getting a free hookah is a sweet deal.

I've ordered quite a few times from PYH, the only time shipping was slow was when Bilal was in Vegas. I've never had any problems with my orders and they usually go out the next day. *shrugs*

always pay with your credit card or even better, with a paypal account linked to credit card (double protection). if someone promises you a product, doesn't ship in time, and you have proper documentation - then you can get your money back easily and let the vendor worry about his order. don't expoit the service of course. also, i don't know why anyone in the US would order from a vendor other than hookah company biggrin.gif

I think the point is... what was 'given' far outweighs the issue.

I know vendors that don't ship [International] for weeks. And you don't get shit from those.

It's totally out of proportion and Mushrat is 100% on the money. It's odd.

I think Sean underestimated the cost of a genuine KM. Assuming most folks are making 30% profit between cost and sale I suggest that a KM is running around $50 [£25].

So why the hell would someone throw something like around for free.

Once again PYH business strategy raises more questions.

I ordered from PYH a long time ago... when I was a first joining forum member before they temporarily closed up shop. My order was wrong and I received a free hookah from them in the mail. I was not told what it was ahead of time, but was happy when I opened my box. The hookah I received was a pumpkin. It is not the best hookah in the world, but I felt pretty good getting one for free.

This kind of thing has happened before. It might happen again.

PYH was ousted from this forum and I am unsure if he has another username. We all know that is against the rules of the forum.

AZSexySean might be right. If he is importing these hookahs as much as crates at a time, a hookah may only cost him 15 bucks or so out of pocket to send to a customer. Risky business but I am not one to criticize how another man runs his business unless I am dealing directly. So far, I have not ordered anything from him since the store reopened. I have too much other shisha right now as it is!

Personally I agree with mush on this one, they will enver stay in business if they just give away stuff like that, also I know for a fact that they are shady dealers from past experence they are like used car salesmen!

JD i know a few wholesalers in the middle east.. these 90-120 dollar Egyptians cost 5-15 dollars wholesale. You just need to know the right people.. I am not sayin every distributor gets them at this price but I know for a fact that PYH imports all of his stuff
