Hookah Troubleshooting!

Recommended Posts

Ok, here's the deal; I just recieved a hand-me-down hookah from a friend. Awesome! I thought...not so much. Turns out that its actually broken. the stem that goes into the water is actually broken. It has detatched from the decorative stem.

I hope this is a fairly understandable description of my predicament. Anyway, I want to know if anyone has any advice on how to fix it (if it can be fixed at all).

Thanks a bunch!

If you can solder it, try it. But the metal is most likely weak from being soldered before. So it might not work... For quick fixes you can use plumber's putty/caulk maybe... but i don't know ho safe it would be. I reccomend it because it's water-tight.

Other than that, i think you need to buy a new one bro. smile.gif

Can you tell if it was originally threaded in? or soldered in?

If it broke off at the threads, you can just drill the upper out and re-tap it. Take a matching die to the tube and screw it back together.

Or you can drill the upper stem out (if there is enough 'meat' there) just a bit less than the lower tube's outside diameter and press it in. (or drill it to O.D.-ish and JB Weld it in) smile.gif i love JB Weld.

.....or you can just donate it to The Home for Wayward Hookahs. I'll send you the address! tongue.gif

Welcome to the forums! Might as well just buy one. You'd probably spend more money trying to fix it. Like my brothers old car, it was my mothers before he got it and was in great condition. After he got it he did stupid things to it like reverse trunk and a aftermarket exhaust etc. Now they spent 5 grand trying to fix it and ended up just breaking again, with that 5 grand they could have gone used car shopping and gotten a car that's in better condition but still crappy smile.gif.
