wyteboy
There have been MANY MANY posts on here related to hole pattern, but I thought I would add something to the subject. I found for me, and this is personal preference, that a pattern with very pin sized holes worked great. It gave me a great thick smoke and very minimal chance of burning. However, when I switched to a screen with larger holes, I also found that to be a great smoking experience, it just takes a little more heat. However, at my favorite hookah place in LA, Rama Geni Cafe, I made sure now that I know what goes on in a hookah setup, to take note of how theirs are set up because the smoke there is incredibly thick and rarely burns and is always great. To my surprise, they used a very large hole pattern, almost like a screen. I would guess about 10-14 holes, evenly spread around the middle and outer ring of the bowl (that is probably the key...evenly spread around), each hole probably TWICE the size of a full toothpick thickness....just thought some people could give this a try and see if it works for them as well. That's my .02 for the day!
