What coals does everybody use here? I'm using golden quicklites and recently i've been getting a weird taste from them (i think i'm not letting them burn enought before i put them on the bowl). any preference to quicklites or naturals?

You can maybe try 3 Kings.....they are very popular....

Or if you want to do natural finger style coals...try the Exotica

The exotica coals will need some sort of a hot plate to heat up. Or you can use your stove smile.gif

hookah hippie, where have you been getting your japanese knock offs? I cant seem to find them anywhere.

I have 3 bags of nour coals, they are terrible in my opinion. I absolutely hate them

i normally use 3kings for their convenience. i dont notice much of a "quicklight taste" to them.
i have tried the easylite chinese silver coals but they taste like shit (yes i am letting the silver burn off them completely).
i have also tried starbuzz natural coals. the first few times i used them i thought they were great but now they give me a weird taste so ive been tossing them in my fireplace lately. lol. im sticking with 3kings.

I've tried naturals (all kinds), japanese easy lights and knock-offs, and both 3 Kings and Goldens. I have never found enough of a taste problem with either of the quick lights to offset the convenience of instant lighting.

Ive got these crazy coals from Jordan called Pigasus, when you lite them, they light so quickly that sometimes they explode haha. They are flat on the top (instead of curved). On the aluminum wrapping it says in red text "winner of 3 international awards". If anybody else has used these please tell me your experience. All i know is that they light extremely fast, I have never had to do anything but ignite and 15 seconds later the bottom is completly red, they do burn a bit faster than most coals, however, they are easy to clean because the ash tends to stay together.
