Shisha-Emirates Havana Ma’assel Reviews..

Recommended Posts

Hi all.......Here's what you've all been waiting for....My reviews of the Havana Ma'assel

I've chosen to review each flavor individually.  Why?
Well,  1rst so that I don't have to take notes and then copy them
to the forum,  and 2nd because it will give everyone the
opportunity to comment on each flavor.

So,  here goes.  I'll be using 2 piggy-backed Golden Coals
for each review. The cut of the ma'assel is the cross between Nakhla
and Romman,  but with no stems. It's a semi-moist ma'assel.  You
won't have to separate it,  as it does not clump-up.  I won't
be commenting on buzz factor because I don't get buzzed from ma'assel.
My scoring system will be a (1 to 10 rating)

Bahraini Apple

Nose Appeal:  It has no smell.

Flavor:  Sweet with no harsh after-taste.  But,  it has
no flavor whatsoever,  not even licorice which is common with most
other brands of Bahraini Apple.

Smoke:  LOTS of smoke

Color:  Red

Score:  4.....for sweetness,  no harsh after-taste,  lots of smoke,  and no stems.

I do not reccommend this flavor

Eskandrani Apple

Nose Appeal:  Slightly strong floral scent.  Does not smell like apple.

Flavor:  Sweet,  mildly-tart, no harsh after-taste, but it tastes like it smells...floral.  No apple flavor.

Smoke:  Tons of Smoke

Color:  Brown

Score:  7.....for sweetness,  nicely tart, no harsh
after-taste,  nice floral notes, no stems,  smoothness,
and pleasant flavor.

Personally,  I found this to be a very pleasant smoke,  but
there's no apple flavor at all.  It's very floral tasting.
Not as strong as Rose,  but nice tasting.

I,  myself,  wouldn't buy this primarily because there's no
apple flavor.  But, if you like floral aromas and flavor,
then you'll definitely enjoy this ma'assel.  It's VERY smooth
smoking

Special Apple

Nose Appeal:  It has a smell,  but I can't quite pinpoint what it is,  definitely not Apple.

Flavor:  Not sweet,  a tiny bit of tartness,  very
fruity,  but no apple flavor that I can find.  A slight bite
on the tongue.  Slightly harsh after-taste. I know this is going
to sound weird,  but I'm sensing a bit of menthol,  just very
slight,  hardly noticeable, but there.

Smoke:  Great smoke volume.

Color:  Red

Score:  4.....for tartness,  very fruity,  smooth,  and no stems

I seriously didn't sense any apple flavor whatsoever.  But,
it's tart and fruity.  Not enough flavor satifaction to get me to
purchase this one.  Though,  the tartness & fruitness are
pleasant,  the negative aspects overwhelm the positive

Strawberry

Nose Appeal:  No smell at all.

Flavor:  A little sweet,  little tart,  a little
fruity,  a slight Strawberry flavor....but only VERY subtle. No
harshness,  no bad aftertaste,  no stems.  Pleasant
smoking,  though very subtle in flavor.

Smoke:  Very heavy smoke.

Color:  Red

Score:  6......for sweetness,  tartness,  fruityness,
smoothness,  no stems, and  a pleasant though very slight
strawberry flavor.

I could go both ways on this one.  It's not something that I
personally would buy, though it is pleasant enough that I could sit and
smoke it while watching a movie or browsing the web.  It's not
really what I would call a SATISFYING ma'assel because the Strawberry
flavor is not very present,  but because of it's sweet,
tart,  fruity,  smooth qualities,  some people may find
this to be a pleasant smoking experience

Banana

Nose Appeal:  The cross between a very weak banana & rubbing alcohol

Flavor:  Tastes a little bit like Bubblegum    I can't taste any Banana at all

Smoke:  Lots of it,  as usual.

Color:  Red

Score:  3......for making me laugh,  shake my head,  and cry at the same time

Whatever you do,  avoid this flavor at all costs

Special Grape

Moisteness:  This one is MUCH moister than the others.  It's not dripping with syrup, but it's VERY moist.

Nose Appeal:  WOW!!!  Reminds me of Al-Fakher Golden Seal
Black Grape,  but MUCH more appealing.  No flavor of
currant,  as with GS Black Grape,  only pure Grape
Goodness

Flavor:  Damn Nice!!!  All I can taste is Beautiful Black
Grape Flavor!!!  Very sweet,  a little tart,  absolutely
NO bad aftertaste at all.  My Oh My....We might have a WINNER
here    The flavor is ASTOUNDING
Each puff makes me want to come back for more.  Well,  all I
can say is this bowl I'm going to smoke all the way
through.........Geez this is good

Smoke:  Thick volumes of smoke.  Must be because of all that syrup.

Color:  Blood Red

Score:  10 +........FOR PURE SATISFACTION!!!

I've never tasted a Grape this good before.  Actually,  let
me re-phrase that.  I've never tasted a Grape so TRULY &
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING before.  It's Exquisite

If you're looking for a PHENOMENOL smoking experience,  this ma'assel is it

Orange

Nose Appeal:  It has an herbal aroma, slightly orangy,
almost like Sassafras.  It has an interesting & nice smell.

Flavor:  Same as the smell.  Not sweet,  a little
tart,  exactly like the description for Nose Appeal.  If
you've ever chewed on Sassafras leaves,  you'd know what I was
talking about here.  Not a bad flavor,  just nothing very
extraordinary

Smoke:  Thick

Color:  Red

Score:  5.......for smoothness,  tartness,  unique herbal orangy flavor,  no bad after-taste,  no stems

I don't know,  some of you may like it and some of you may
not.  It sort of reminds me of Orange Spiced Tea.  I'm a
little up in the air about this one.  I can't decide whether I
like it or not

Lemon

Nose Appeal:  Very strong Lemon aroma,  but pleasant.

Flavor:  Mellow Lemon taste,  a little tart,  not too sweet,  very nice,  no harsh after-taste

Smoke:  Heavy

Color:  Red

Score:  9.......Could be a little sweeter,  but overall a very well-balanced ma'assel.

This is an everyday smoke.  I could do several sessions of this
today.  Would definitely make a good Hookah Lounge ma'assel,
or a very good party ma'assel. Could mix this very well with other
flavors,  not overwhelming at all.  I really like this
one

Well,  that's it folks,  that's all the samples I asked
for,  and now it's up to you to decide whether or not this is a
Premium brand.  I reviewed honestly,  and I believe my
reviews are very accurate.

The coals I used were Golden (quick-light) Coals.  I like them
because they heat up very quickly and impart no charcoal flavor
whatsoever in the smoke.

I'm going to finish up this bowl of Lemon,  and then go smoke some
more of.....Yep,  you guessed it.......SPECIAL GRAPE

Cheers Everyone......Have a great weekend

Very nice reviews indeed  Interesting that the apple flavors aren't winners, and the lemon and grape are;usually most companies get the apple down and screw up with the less traditional ones.I've been looking for a good lemon flavor,I may have to try the lemon and the grape.

Gamaliel,  the thing you have to realise about this Lemon is that
it should be smoked with two coals.  And I picked this tip up in a
hookah lounge the other day:

Place one coal on one side of the bowl,  and then place another
coal piggy-back style on the other side of the bowl,  so that the
second coal is leaning against the top of the first coal.  If you
don't do it this way,  and simply place 2 coals directly on the
foil,  then you WILL burn this ma'assel.

EVERYBODY........One thing,  the most IMPORTANT thing I failed to
mention is that with 2 coals,  you're looking at a mere 20 minute
smoke.  With one coal,  depending on the type of coal you
use,  you'll get a longer smoke.  Golden Coals last quite a
bit longer than most of the other quick-light & natural coals I've
tried....up to about 45 minutes for me,  because I puff so
frequently,  but anyone else it would probably last an hour.

wyteboy.....I've tried the AF White Grape,  and it's not even in
the same BALL-PARK as Havana Special Grape.  Despite the fact that
most of the other flavors SUCKED,  this Special Grape will have
you melting with pleasure.

But,  everyone,  be aware that this Special Grape smells VERY
strong,  and you REALLY have to be into the Black Grape flavor to
appreciate this Work of Art

well then I would argue they are two VERY different smokes, almost like you can't compare them! I know a number of people on here love the refreshing, smooth green-grape smoke that the regular AF Grape smoke provides....AND it definitely lasts you a heckuva lot longer than 20 minutes with a 2-coal smoke ;)
there's my af defense ;)
I am sure the special grape is awesome too though, glad ya like it!

Hey,  I wasn't trying to start a debate with you,
wyteman,  I was simply pointing out that they're 2 entirely
different flavors.  It would be like comparing Apples to
Oranges,  or Black Grapes to White Grapes

I changed my mind about the consistancy of this ma'assel.

Upon smoking more bowls of this stuff,  I would have to say that
it's the cross between Al-Fakher & Romman,  NOT Nakhla &
Romman.

Since TobaccoImportUSA & SocialSmoke don't have this stuff in-stock at the
moment,  I've decided to buy several 250g containers of the
Special Grape & possibly the Double Apple & Lemon from
www.Shisha-Emirates.com

I will go further to say,  with the exception of
Special Grape and Lemon, I don't consider this to be a Premium ma'assel
worthy of charging $23 for,  but for the sake of getting these
flavors
QUICKLY,  I consider it convenient just buying them from
Shisha-Emirates.

To: Mathazar and The Hookah Forum,Thank you for the reviews. We received a ton of orders over the weekend for Havana, and a number of the new customers did start their journey, over the internet, right here at your forum. It looks as though you had fun doing the reviews, and there were some very interesting comments. Thanks again everyone! Richhttp://www.shisha-emirates.com

Math:
Not to mention they were kind enough to give you a bunch of free stuff for hawking their products. Too bad you actual opinions don't match your earlier glowing recomendations of many of the same products.
Its also unfortunate that you don't see any problem with having been a walking advertisement for products you later said weren't any good. So much for credibility. So I ask again, you going to refund anyone who bought stuff on your earlier glowing endorsements that you now say aren't worth smoking?
Your signature should start bearing a disclaimer about being a paid endorser.
