my friends mom, who i smoke hooka with, says that you should only keep it in your mouth and not inhale...
shes a woman so i assumed she was wrong
yeah, i inhale, im supposed to - right?

Well, you  don't really HAVE to inhale,  as some people smoke the hookah like a regular pipe or a cigar.

But,  I tried that method and it didn't work for me.  I AM a
cigar and pipe tobacco smoker,  and I enjoy it very much. 
But with the hookah,  you really have to inhale to fully enjoy
your smoking experience

hmmm i heard that if you just suck it into your mouth you get a hairy toung (atleased thats what i heard bout ciggs) so i figure smoke is smoke.......can someone confirm that (hope not)
thats what a buddy of mine told me when he started smoking...maybe to scare me from it?

If you mean literally mean hairy tounge, that's crazy. Ha, other then that I don't know what you're talking about. Getting back to the original poster, smoking your hookah without inhaling must be a horrible thing. The whole point of it is to get the smoke throughout your body and feel the flavour. Not to mention the hairy palms your likely to ge too. Seriously, I have no idea how you can smoke a hookah without inhailing. It takes a little lung to get smoke drawn through the hose. Nah, nice, rich thick smoke is attainable only through lunging it.

btw, I definitely don't think it's addictive...personally I don't.  I think it can be psychologically addicting because of the social fun and intrigue, but there is nowhere near enough nicotine to make it physically addicting....I think most in here agree that they don't feel any sort of addiction whatsoever....except for Math whom we all love!

not sure but more than 0.05 percent   the lowest cig on the market i could find when i was researching was 2.5 percent i think.

A long while ago we had a session and we had a previous non-hookah smoker.  I didn't know what her feelings on smoking were so I told her she didn't have to inhale if she didn't want to.  She took full lungs.
I love bringing new people into the hookah world.

haha. thats how i was. well my girlfriend doesnt smoke anything, unlike
me. I used to smoke about a pack of cigss every other day so i already
had caloused throte. she can inhale and not choke so i think its a very
very mild smoke.

Ya, I like suprising the crap out of non-smokers when they tentitivly inhale a little..and their faces light up with wonder and amaizment...Not that starting people on inhaleing tobacco products is necessarily a good thing mind you...but no one ever said i was NICE.

Inhale all the way.  If you are doing it right it feels like nothing more than pulling in a long draft of say fog on a humid morning.  I can't take in even a regular cig without choking usually and the smoke from my hookah is smoother than a fine porcelain.
