Cleaning A Hookah With Rubbing Alcohol

Recommended Posts

Hey, so im not all that experienced with hookas, but I cleaned mine today using rubbing alcohol as it hasnt been cleaned in awhile. However the base, which is made of plastic turned white on the inside. It only turned white where the rubbing alcohol had been swished around, not on the actual bottom where it sat for a few minutes. Im wondering is there anyway to remove the whiteness and is it dangerous/ harmful.

Thanks

Thanks, I figured out the base is an acrylic plastic, if i left the rubbing alco
hol in longer it would have shattered.  ohmy.gif   I guess im wondering is it ok to smoke out of now or am I going to get wierd like toxic chemicals in my lungs from the plastic.

lemon juice seems to be a favorite.. thats what i use... others have claimed they have used baking soda. Get like a bucket fill it up with warm water mix baking soda in then just drop your parts in and an hr later or so the nasty smell is gone and its clean. What is comes down to is.. what are you willing to smoke... lemon juice or baking soda?

dont clean the hookah with anything you couldn't drink... can you drink lemon water? - yes... can you drink rubbing alcohol? - no

i think what hes trying to say is clean the hookah out with stuff you can drink. if its safe enough to go in your body, its safe enough to clean out your hookah huh.gif

I just got a hookah recently actually and i've just been cleaning it out with hot water. Is it better to let all parts sit in some mix (either water/lemon juice, water/baking soda, or whatever) or just ot take a mix and run it through all the tubes and parts? and is it ok to let the hose sit in the solution?

i use this gunk off stuff i got from a head shop. it's used for glass and metal and it's pretty industrial. I use just a splash in a bucket and it helps get rid of any stuck on stuff and old smells.

Although I always make sure that I also rinse everything with enough water to not worry about chemicals.

you mean "420 solution"? because that is just water, lemon juice and salt.

no... it's a little more hardcore than the 420 stuff. cheaper, bigger bottle, and works like a champ. funny enough, i went to get the 420 stuff, but they didn't have the all purpose stuff that worked on all materials and ended up with this stuff.

hey man....the SAME thing happened to me. I couldn't figure out for the life of me what it was and I tried scrubbing it out...didn't work so well since the entry hole was so small. Over time I noticed the plastic started to clear up so. I started to use really hot water and some of it is slowly breaking away.

FYI mya arylic
