Geiseric
I have 3 steady roommates, one who smokes with me, one who doesn't, but we know each other from way back, so he doesn't give me any shit about it. But because we were unable to locate new roommates to replace the last ones, we had to take two new girls that the landlord found to make rent affordable. That was when the problems started. First they wanted us to no longer smoke in the garage because it was close to their hallway. We moved upstairs and started smoking in my room. They started in on that smoking wasn't allowed in the house. We asked if the garage would bother them. They said no. I spent 5 hours setting up a small lounge in the garage, with a stereo, my N64, xbox and xbox 360, and a TV. I cleaned up the place, put in tables and chairs, along with a papazon chair. 3 days later, I find out from another roommate they want us out of there and back in my room. On one hand, I guess I should be glad they don't crack down on us and not let us smoke hookah at all (being the house is technically non-smoking, although previously all of the renters smoked hookah in the house), and I'm pretty sure they would if they weren't new. But on the other hand... Goddammit they are irritating. It doesn't help that they get drunk and noisy every night of the week. Pete (the old friend) and I are moving out in may because we can't stand living there any more, but I'm still screwed until then. How do you other guys deal with non-(hookah)smoking roommates? Aside from killing them, that is. Although I am sorely tempted.P.S. Note my location. Smoking outside = not possible. Canon
use peer pressure and get them to smoke.. that should be a quick fix
MechAnt
Damn, that sucks! I can't imagine roommates that bitchy about hookah. My friend has one roommate that is sorta anti-smoking but my friend just asks him if he doesnt mind and generally he doesnt as long as it's not around him. Geiseric
One is decent looking, but so annoying that I cant stand being around her for more than 10 minutes, I literally have to leave, or I might become overpowered by distaste and make a rude comment I would regret later. The other looks like a truck ran into her face, and she the most shallow females I have had the displeasure of meeting. My favorite quote from her is "I would soooo love to be one of Hugh Hefner's Playmates" Her reasoning is that she would never have to work another day of her life after sleeping with the old man. Ugh.

Ahh make her move, do other stuff that gets on her nerves and make them move.
ubernerd83
My brothers who smoked and I had a few problems with a few of the guys in our fraternity, at least initially. Eventually, however, they got over it and figured out a.) it wasn't affecting there allergies/asthma/whatever and b.) it actually smells kind of good. That, and we peer pressured them all into trying it at least once. Ahhhh...fraternity life.
Tati
My housemates dont like me smoking in my room, so I usually go to a friends house, or do it when they are all gone...But its been a nice couple of days lately, so Ive just been outside. So why dont they like you smoking in the garage? Does the smoke get through? Cuz you can always put a rolled up t-shirt/towel or something under the door, or around or something...It sounds like a sweet setup you had there... But then who pays the rent?No you don't do anything like that. Just pick them up and put them on the couch, or bed. They'll be knocked out from the chloroform and you'll be able to smoke a session. Now the hard part is getting them to smell the rag again, if you want to smoke another session .

Dekon
Or just throw their shit out and when they come home or something lock the door before they get home. They'll go crazy and you find new roommates. Edited November 15, 2007 by Dekon

Mine too.QUOTE So why dont they like you smoking in the garage? Does the smoke get through? Cuz you can always put a rolled up t-shirt/towel or something under the door, or around or something...It sounds like a sweet setup you had there...You are making a dangerous assumption. You assume they are not moronic assholes. The smoke isn't coming through at all, the door is on the other side of the garage. What they are smelling (as well as the rest of us) is the mildew in their bathroom because they can't manage to clean up water after they shower. I don't really mind not being able to smoke everywhere, I am just tired of jumping around at their whim. I am just going to stick in the garage and tell them they can get the f*ck over it. Geiseric
I won the battle (but perhaps not the war). I convinced them that it was more convenient to have me down there smoking where the smell filters out than up in my room where it goes out into the kitchen and living room. The unfortunate thing about the alcohol is that it is not denied by our lease. Smoking is. Doesn't matter that we have all along, and that two of us still do. Legally, they are in the right. Sucks for me, just means I have to kiss ass to continue to smoke until May, when I will be moving into an apt. that allows smoking (finally).
