Recommended Posts

my first hookah didnt go well because i was being impatient. but it was an awesome design. it had the hose come out the bottom, that way the smoke goes through the water 2 times, letting it cool off a little more. unfortunately, instead of using caulk, i used hot glue and that didnt work too well for the leak (i kept making it worse) but im wanting my 2nd hookah to be a little more tough. (still want the same design though) so no one has any idea how hot it gets? (except Zildjian)

This is a very good question though. I've been looking into getting one of those temperature probes that you can plug into a pc thats much more accurate than the $1 one of your average egg timer. That information would be very useful in designing a hookah.

its quick lights, i start it in my hand by lighting the little dimple then put it on the bowl and let it finish quick lighting.

It really would be a better idea to let it finish quick lighting in a well ventilated area, then leaving it be or blowing on it gently til the whole coal is glowing red and there's no more trace of black.

thats what i usually do, sometimes i get lazy. ill light it and let it finish on the bowl, sit back and watch tv.

back on topic though, does anyone have a good/cheap idea to measure the temperature? i saw something that can tell the temperature by pointing a light or something at the source.

I'll check it with a digital thermometer after my classes. The bowl AND the shisha though? I've never really noticed the shisha being excessively hot. The only time I ever get burned is when I touch the bowl or when quicklights shoot sparks at me.
