JillyIsJustKidding
Hey everyone!I got this new mini hookah from this hookah shop near my house. It says on the box "Super Hookah" so I'm assuming this is the name of the maker. It looks a lot like the pumpin, but its not and its frosted with these leaf designs on it.I tried it out with some AF Grape and no matter what I do, it seems reallllyy harsh and I didn't put a lot of coals on it.I know the water level is tricky so I tried my best to fix it, but it doesn't seem to work because I don't get a lot of smoke... I know that their known to be bad, but I've seen them smoke great with thick clouds so I dunno what I'm doing wrong Can you all make some suggestions? Thank You

Geiseric
1. How are you packing the bowl? It can be pretty hard to balance on the tiny bowls that come with these small hookahs.2. What kind of bowl are you using? I never use the original bowl that comes with the minis, they tend to always burn a little harsh, at lease in my experience. I usually switch them out with a little wider bowl.3. What does your foil look like?I have a love\hate relationship with mini-hookahs, I love that they can be carted anywhere, and that I can afford to not worry about them breaking at parties due to there rather low pricetag, but they also tend to smoke poorly, and hold old flavor (due to smaller, harder to clean parts). JillyIsJustKidding
OH and BTWThe part were the shaft and vase connect, the grommet wasn't big enough so I had to get some electrical tape >_< and the hole wouldn't fit through the hose grommet so I had to put the tape on it too
Geiseric
There is this super neat edit button . Regardless, not a lot anyone can say without looking at pics. It doesn't have to be great, just good enough to be able to see the basic idea of whats going on. It seems rather strange that you are getting very little smoke AND having the shisha burn. JillyIsJustKidding
PICS!EEK! There's some ash on the top..Maybe its because I was using Nours Finger Coals? Ahh I dunno!Off of all of this, what am I doing wrong? Edited November 17, 2007 by Johnny_D changed to IMG tags. Easier to read :) JD
Johnny_D
You may not have enough tobacco in there!Try packing the bowl really well. With that little amount it could create nasty smoke and just burn it. Give it a whirl JD
shisha fan
you should pack the bowl higher, the smoke tends to get harsh if you underpack it. 5mm between the shisha and foil is probably optimal.

And I'm thinking about using my modern bowl cuz the one that came with the hookah gets way too hot easily and it takes up way too much tobaccoKk, I think I'll try this all out tomorrow and see how it works
Zildjian
also take pics of how you to your coals. for a small bowl like that if you are using a 30mm just put it on the edge of the bowl and move it around, if you are using 40mms split it in half and plop it towards the middle
Hookah Master
i have a pumpkin hookah which is same thing as that more or less... i think the problem is.. the hose... the hose that came with my pumpkin was horrible it felt restricted and its really small so not a lot of air comes through.... luckily hookah-shisha sent me one of there washable hoses with hookah so i decided to try that and sure enough it was hitting perfectly... so to be honest i think its the hose thats just complete trash. Clammmms
I ran into the same problem when I got my pumpkin hookah. First, I was packing too much shisha, then not enough, then my water level was too high, then too low. Honestly, it just took some fiddling around to get it right. I have it down to a science at this point. The base should be about 2/3 full, and I pack the bowl full, but loosely. It might also be the coals. I've had the best results with one of the disc-shaped 3 kings charcoals cut in half.Good luck!

We'll I tried extending the stem with 2 straws, used a mod bowl, and I used my Egyptian Hose instead. Now, works pretty good and there is way more smoke. It just tasted kinda harsh...Do you guys think its because I'm using naturals and its making it too hot? Oh and the vase was barely half full when I retested it out.Eh I mean I'd use quicklights, but they don't taste as great as naturals. The only QL I have are Starlights Edited November 18, 2007 by JillyIsJustKidding
Brownman18
its not the hookah, its the coals. I had a bad batch of fingers as well, the new ones i buy are shit so i stopped using them. i now use natural ABO ABDO coals. Your problem is the coals are ashing poorly and the hot tiny dots of it go through the holes into the bowl, and light up as u suck in making it taste like ass.If thats not the problem, your other problem is the stem and base connection. Its not connected/tight enough.Take any regular hookah and tilt the stem so its not fully flush down and youll get that harsh taste as well. Not quite sure why that is.WEll thats my 2 fixes/problematic areas that would cause that.
