I've heard of people using blowtorches... though I imagine that this probably runs through fuel pretty quickly. I have a really excellent micro torch that I got off of eBay for $20 including shipping to Canada... but I mostly use it for management of heat, and not to actually light the coals due to the afformentioned costs of fuel.

Oven burners = win.

You use a blow torch, it last pretty long. I went through 1 box of exoticas and 1 bag of Dynamites before you have to change and it'll cost you 4 buck to get a new bottle. If you want something that will pretty much light any coal I would go with the Blowtorch.

check out the first minute of two of my 'how to pack tangiers....' video. I show my method for lighting coals quickly. basically I shape a long sheet of foil into a dome cover and place it over the stove with the coals. lights up 2x faster because the heat stays trapped from the foil reflecting the heat waves

yeah man, I actually saw ur 'tangiers how to' video and I'm thinking about doing something like that. I also showed it to my smoking buddy and he liked that idea as well, so we'll prolly make something along those lines...and thanks for making an awesome video. Showing it step by step is really helpful to me and I bet a lot of other people, keep up the good work man =)
